Having difficulty assimilating the science. Whereas radiation detection is within my compass pathogen detection is totally alien. The problem becomes more awkward to grasp when a virus mutates completely altering known characteristics. How quickly can a detector's program be adjusted/adapted to recognise a new threat.
Already I hear whispers that the Astra-Zeneca jab is not going to be effective against the S African variant. Also, I have today been in touch with a Capetonian who has gone down a second time with covid and the impact on her has been more pronounced than it was in June. In sum we still have to learn quite a lot more about the disease.
Therefore, coming full circle, if Kromek's detector handles the first viral strain footprint is it going to recognise the mutant?
