Trying to keep an open mind. Not really champing at the bit here. Quite suddenly after a very indifferent performance there are a half-dozen stocks doing quite well. PTAL %-wise is only +35% although it adds up to quite a tidy sum.

I may top slice at around 50p assuming it ever gets there. Would be wunderbar if we could cross 20p this month . . . that of course is in the hands of #95 production, increased storage/barge capacity and the 4H work over.

The market is not really awake to a vastly improved scenario at Bretaña. As and when the SP turns PIs are going to be scratching around for the crumbs. I hope the Puinahua locals behave and act reasonably.

Not to be deterred I have gone heavily into the Kabompo dome where there is more than a single Tier 1 area similar to the Sentinel open pit. We can't wait on SOLG alone forever.

Noted PTAL reached 34c yesterday before falling back to 33.5c.

The 14-minute video illustrates the care that has to be taken with installation. It is quite possible that the steps taken on 4H were inadequate . . . could have been something wrong with the insulation m-o or poor splicing causing a transformer to blow.

Maybe another 3 - 4 weeks' work to complete. Time and production lost from the well. I also note the new horizontals will take all year to come on stream but end-year target exit should be achieved. Here's hoping.

A similar thread was listed yesterday. Petrotal being used as additional leverage by the locals is excessive although typical of similar demands and trends elsewhere. As the word "canal" in Spanish has the same meaning in English I ask if the company is effectively being asked to carry responsibility for developing the whole province together with hefty state payments.

No, I don't, other than to say if he was flown to Nairobi -- and not booked in to Dar hospital -- it suggests severe symptoms. Have also noted a number of senior Tanz officials have succumbed to covid . . . could be anything but certainly not a mango or pawpaw.

Like it or not that is how the system operates. Various shades of corruption prevail. If you don't join it you remain relatively down-at-heel.

Being semi-African, if there is such a category, I have seen it all. Most African entities, be they comprising haves or have-nots, exploit situations for what they can get out of them. The locals promote "I demand" and those in the driving seat exploit wherever they can. It's unrelenting and there will be no end to it.

Nor is it confined to that continent. Similar practices are rampant elsewhere. The habit has even been acquired in Colombian and Peruvian jungle areas.

The Acacia saga is well documented. On balance it would seem there were hands in the till although Bristow capitulated because he knew a horse deal was the only remedy. Shanta have packed management with notable locals. It should insulate them to some degree but only for as long as Magufuli thrives. And I tend to agree VAT remuneration could be a long time coming . . . for as long as coffers remain empty.
