gold vs dollar28 Aug 2021 16:51
I read posters' overviews on gold subject without fail and have little idea of how the future will unfold.
Looking back - indulgence, yes - I recall the 1970s:
Gold bullion $35/oz. Battling with letters of credit, quoting cargoes from Cape Town and Durban in USDs, much of it to Freeport Rotterdam, always a stack of $s in the strongroom. Having been raised on £-s-d it took a bit of getting used to. Most calcs were mentally done, no computers at that time.
Big changes lie ahead. Will the $ (as we know it) survive? The euro looks to be a lame duck at best. Another 30% increase in UK exports, especially to the Continent, may strengthen GBP. Looks encouraging.
Footnote - Bushiangala during Acacia's time was the weaker link. Isulu prospects have now surged ahead. With another rig onsite the next six months could signal mid-tier status.
