I seem to remember the majority of share tips in Techinvest ( as in all other similar tip sheets) lose investors money, but a few do very well and they are the ones that get talked about, just as in AIM.
I seem to remember you are better off signing up for the tip sheet, picking out that months buy recommendations and trying to get in before the herd, and selling once you've made a profit. However, even that was not easy, as it was all posted then, and by the time you received your tip sheet in the post, those in the know ( i.e when it went to press), had already bought in, increased the share price sometimes by a great deal, before the paying punters had received their paper copy, which was already out of date as far as the share price was concerned.
I don't know if its has changed now, but I doubt it.
Saying that i did come across Videologic ( later Imagination Technology) , and kept investing even after i stopped paying for the magazine, and nothing happened for years and years until suddenly one day, it went form something around 30p and climbed over the next few years to around £5, before getting into trouble. I made a good profit, sold far to early though.
But that was sheer luck, as they all come with good news stories, always just a few years ahead.
