AbC-19 Rapid Test & Oxford Vaccine19 Nov 2020 10:12
I contacted Walbrook earlier this morning and asked several questions mainly about the relationship between the AbC-19 Rapid Test and the Oxford University vaccine. Ill list the main points below form the reply which many of you probably are aware of, but may still be useful to others.
They both target the same antibody response to SARSCoV- 2.
UK-RTC researchers developing the AbC-19 Rapid TestTM had access to the SARS-CoV-2 antigens used by the Oxford research teams, ensuring both the assay and the vaccine target the same antibody response.
The AbC-19 Rapid Test is targeted at IgG antibodies to the full spike protein of SARS-CoV-2 (COVID19) to indicate a measure of immune response (aligned with neutralizing antibodies)
This differs from other antibody tests such as those measuring IgM and IgG to the nucleocapsid
The measurement of IgG to spike is required to understand levels of immunity producing antibodies as generated naturally or via vaccination.
The AbC-19 test however is not the only antibody tests that targets the IgG to spike.
There is no contractual relationship between the role out of the Oxford vaccine and the AbC-19 Rapid test
However, the UK-RTC will certainly be leveraging the connections mentioned above both in their existing supply agreement with the UK Government and with other third parties via their own marketing and commercial promotion.
A few questions to those more knowledgeable than me on this board ...
What other antibody tests are similar to the The AbC-19 test in regards to targetings the IgG to spike. Any names
What advantage, if any ( manufacturing wise / quality wise - not relationship wise) would ODX have considering that they have had access to Oxford SARS-CoV-2 antigens and assays used by the Oxford research teams to target the same antibody response, compared to another company, a competitor that can also target this IgG spike?
Complicated stuff for me, but you get my gist.
Does ODX have a scientific advantage over a another company selling a similar antibody test ( to IgG spike), but did not work with Oxford /. AZ.
