The WSG contract was worked on with the previous RVA CEO abdallah bilenge who has since been imprisoned for 20yrs. It was signed off on the 15/6/21 by an acting CEO

Why did they not wait until the inauguration of Sungu on 5/7/21?
Does this explain the delay in parliamentary ratification? Presumably he is supportive if he has signed off the WSG tour

There are similarities with the Namibia scenario 2016-18.. Multiple changes of AA ceo, with accusations of corruption and subsequent sackings. Ultimately the nationalists won out with the local police retaining control of airport security.

Btw fowler was accused by the local media of offering bribes to the CEO to pay for his children’s education

He sees no need to be accurate with timescales as their is no sanction for being wrong-may as well make optimistic guesses- and the company is too small to enforce hard bargains which are well adhered to- fowler gets shafted and passes it on to us- we have to be flexible

I am not surprised that parliamentary ratification has not yet taken place. There are examples (in other African countries) for contracts of this size taking 6-12 months, and longer than 2 years where there is dispute

Tema stumbled over the line with attendant delays but the profit making machine has gone awry- the bottom line has been neglected- contract negotiation and profit margin weak-cost control too complacent- risk management too narrow focused- reliant of non core revenue streams to avoid afloat

DRC is positive but unlikely to be transformative to the bottomline as management are too weak

How will fowler be able to deal with a corrupt system? I expect he believes he can mix it up with them- bribes etc. Not sure he has all the necessary skills- it’s much easier tricking naive SHs- his RNS are plausible to the uninitiated, and his gruff defensive manner throws them off the scent

Btw- all the nucleotide delivery vehicles have been organic molecules eg Lipids etc- a move to inorganic would be a big step
