The latest Ocado powered CFC around the globe to go into construction is the one in Chiba City, Japan. It is being built for Aeon Japan who are part of Aeon retail, the largest retailer in Asia. Building started last week, due for completion in 2023.

Huge solar farm on top of the CFC, details from the article are below:

"In addition, a solar power generation system with a maximum power generation capacity of over 3 megawatts is installed on the roof. The power generated by the photovoltaic power generation system installed by the PPA model will be used for operation, and renewable energy will be maximized by installing a large storage battery. They won't stop with groceries. Using it's robotics and Ai many other fields will be automated/streamlined by Ocado in the years to come..

Agree with your thoughts. So much further potential for Ocado to fulfill. Tame daily movements usually in the share price currently however if a new contract comes the share will rocket once again.

Tight margin or loss making, it's all about gaining market share for these ultra fast delivery models. There is a gap in the market there though. I downloaded the Gorrilas app. Impressive, low delivery fee, prices compare to a convenience shop. Deliveries are only in some areas of London.

It is more competition for Ocado Zoom. I can't see Ocado retail wanting to bring out a Mega Zoom service 15 mins or under. The Ocado Zoom app is more impressive though, wider product range, cheaper prices. All backed up by the standard Ocado differentials, v low substitution, ultra low wastage, superb delivery customer service, easy refunds if issues etc.

This emergence of ultra fast delivery I see as another opportunity for Ocado Solutions arm. All of these companies would be greatly enhanced by Ocado's best in class food handling robotics and Ai. There will be a point where they have market share and then need more automation to become profitable.

The more food that's ordered online the more opportunity for Ocado Solutions to grow...

Encouraging to see the move up continuing so far today. Multiple recent director buys (x4) and improved overall tech market conditions (US interest rate outlook more subdued than it was in Feb/March) are helping the move up.

Then add that customers have to wear facemasks and every so often the supermarket choose to move around where products are in the store so customers wander around more before leaving

One company is persuing a court case in 3 geographies against Ocado. Ocado have dismissed the case against them as absurd and are defending the case and have issued counterclaim court cases against Autostore. Ocado has signed contracts with 7 major grocers around the world who all carried out due diligence on Ocados technology before entering into a contract with them.

Seems the sunshine brings out the best in Ocado.
