Colbalt - warrants are a "right to buy shares at a pre-determined price". In Val's case, warrants were issued as part of the placing, i.e. those people who participated in the placing were given the right (but not the obligation) to buy company shares at a specific price (in case of Val this was around 13p). SO, if you had warrants, you could apply now to the company to issue you those shares, you pay the company 13p for them, and can sell immediately in the market for 25/26p.

Warrants are another way for the company to get cash in, at usually much higher price than the placing price (last placing was done here at 7p I think) and also keeping the placees happy that if share price goes up, they'll further benefit from the strong performance.

I can imagine what will happen with Alba if the news from drilling leaks... After doing a lot of reading, and calculations at the weekend, I think this has every chance of exceeding 1p on good results. Gold bonanza in the UK? That will be covered by every newspaper and news agency. Reminds me of UKOG when they were drilling their Horse Hill. It was amazing, and am hoping the same for this

So no, not miffed at all, and I’ll let the crowd get their 20/30%, just like they will make here once I make my money. But I don’t remember coming here banging on about it. This has turned into a GGP board rather than SOLG.

Mr Nation - we need exposure as well as results. Hopefully the next piece of news will lift this into new territory. With gold at circa $2000 and increasing, I can see a lot of upside here. It's a tiny company, so could really go crazy if they find decent grades from the current drilling. I am hoping this would be much higher before results land though

PBShares - well, AISC is a total sustainable costs, and these costs (e.g. general and admin expenses, exploration costs etc) will most likely increase too. Imagine if you were providing services to these mining companies, and you know the margin they make is very high (as is demand for the services as everyone is piling into exploration and production) would you not increase the cost for providing your services? Maybe I’m wrong, but economics always work that way.

Grace - AISC is obviously unique to each project, but the link gives an idea of some bigger mines costs recently. Obviously with POG going up, you’d expect some increase in these costs too. I’d say it’s usually around $800 average, with some much higher. I’ll try and find out what AISC can be for Clogau, but i can’t believe it’ll be higher than £1200.

As far as POG goes, who knows. I work for a rival of CITI and I don’t think the view is as positive as CITI’s, and it does seem a little crazy at $5k, but I won’t complain and it’ll make the miners very very attractive. For me, if it gets to $2.500 in the coming year, then I see mining sector really thriving.

Troajan - Alba owns 11.75% of Horse Hill oil production. This is an oil well in the UK. Unfortunately, with low oil prices and for some reasons I currently don't know yet, the oil production is well below optimium. Alba should have a decent stream of cash flow from here when production increases, and fingers crossed the oil price. I do like companies with some cash flow as it limits the cash raises which generally kills shareholder value (particularly if done badly).

Thanks Troajan, that’s helpful to know. I can imagine planning permission could be a big hurdle. However, if they open the mine then it can’t be all bad for local businesses and employment. I was also referring to 100/200k ounces in total, rather than per annum. 20/30k oz a year at a profit margin of £1000 is still £20/30m profit (excluding taxes) which for this company is huge. But it’s long way to that yet, for now it’s just about discovery so let’s see what they come back with. Shame HH is doing so badly though, and with POG being so low it’s all a bit cr8p. I’m new to Alba, but do you have any idea what her HH production is supposed to increase anytime soon?
