Rr101 - no, not sarcasm this time around. The international market is very important to RR and a chairman from overseas may be more helpful in building those bridges.

The EU has the environment high on the agenda. Getting business from them will do the company no harm. A chairman from Germany or France could prove to be a good ambassador. Our government seems hell bent on burning bridges with the EU and my hope is that any new chairman will be able to forge a useful path forward with both the EU and the wider international market..

The vacine news may not all be good.

I was reading about some of the side effects noted by the FDA. It seems that the second shot is where participants experience the worse reaction. Apparently, one trial participant was shivering so hard he broke a tooth!

If stories like that hit the mainstream media when the booster shots are administered in the UK, it could affect take up. Not trying to scare monger just saying that not all vaccine news will be positive.

Liamdcfc1 - thank you and apologies, I must have missed your post. Would you mind clarifying, for the benefit of short term holders, what you think a no deal outcome will do to the RR SP in the immediate term? I think that was Rr101's question.

I'm also in for the long term but can rebalance and top up further if the RR SP price should head south. Long term I feel confident about the company right now.

Brexiters know what's coming but and they just don't care. They haven't cared about the FTSE falling behind all major indices so far, so why would they care if the RR SP is further affected by a No Deal Brexit? They don't, but they don't want to come on here and admit it either.

Just watch. As soon as prices head south they will be the first to start blaming the EU for the decisions made by British voters. It won't be the Leave voters fault at all...

I think the last thing the EU will be telling Johnson is "good luck and mind that the door doesn't slam you on the arse on the way out".

Unfortunately, after that there won't be much more left to say.

It must be a real dilemma for people that voted for Brexit. Here we have the Pfizet/Biontech vacine being produced in the EU and shipped over to the UK from the EU. But it's not a British product, it's an EU import! Everyone knows that Leavers don't like the EU. Hmmm, trickey one...

Hopefully Leavers will say 'no' to the Pfizer/Biontech vacine and just hold on until a British alternative is available, no matter how long that takes. They should stick to their principles. Personally, I think that's the fairerst way of dealing with the dilemma.

Phrontist - I'm sure you know the EU is not a country, and that there has been no suggestion of the EU controlling UK waters.

The debate is about whether the UK has exclusive or non-exclusive fishing rights in UK waters, as well as species qoutas. For surrendering a relatively small portion of exclusive fishing rights, the EU is offering the UK favourable terms on other aspects, such as the export of farming produce from the UK. It is part of a negotiated package.

'Sovereignty of waters' is a term banded about by the Government to appeal to people who voted for Brexit. It gets their juices flowing. But the real issues I believe are exclusive vs non-exclusive fishing rights in UK waters, and qoutas within a non-exclusive arrangement. DYOR.

Yeah, the EU are such bullies. Why can't they give us everything we want, the way we want it...? We're British for crying out loud! Let's tell Johnny Foreigner to take a hike. I can assure you that I don't have 10's of millions. That is because I work in asset management, I'm not one of the GS type investment bankers that you probably have in mind. Bonuses in the asset management world are more constrained. Still, I've done very well, and thank you for your interest in my personal life. Shall we get back to RR?
