Exxon and Chevron up from where they were last year but BP and Shell aren't. Same sector yet UK companies underperformed vs US.

The underperformance is not due to price manipulation of either BP or Shell IMHO.

Botbot120268 - interesting comparison but there is another aspect to consider when drawing parallels between the performamce of US companies and a UK company. The Dow Jones has SIGNIFICANTLY outperformed the FTSE 100 in the past 12 months and that alone would have pulled up the SP of the US companies. By contrast the FTSE 100 has underperformed most (if not all) major indecies and that would have dragged RR down with it.

I suspect it would be more reasonable to implicate Brexit for the large difference in the performance of the SP, rather than any price manipulation. Not trying to turn this into a Brexit discussion, just saying the FTSE 100 has underperformed and this underperformance has held back all constituents.

Now if RR was listed in the US rather than in the UK, I suspect that the SP performance would be on a par with the US companies. It's that simple IMHO.

This isn't a day trader's forum, nor is it a LTHs forum. A lot of the frustration in this thread seems to eminate from a lot of day trader talk on here.

Hard to avoid but staying focussed in the SP and the company is more important than discussing your personal investment strategy and outcomes.

The RR SP isn't going to 55p or 50p so they should just pack up their pots and pans, and set up camp somewhere else. RR will be doing great this year and long positions will be duely rewarded IMHO.

whatamess - you were right again. Those bond yields are killing the RR SP this morning.

protraderx - I hate to be the one to tell you, but Rio is up 0.13% this morning, while RR is up 2.7%. BP is actually down 1.4% dispite oil prices.

Last week it was about downside, followed by curbs and more varients. Then the SP shot up 10% and you piped down and crawled off back into your hole. That was funny.

Short trading must be quite stressful. How big was the dry cleaning bill from Monday? Did they get rid of the smell?

botbot120268 - you're holding just over twice what I am so I feel your pain, albeit half as much. I got in at 93p so not feeling any serious pain as yet.

I figured this would trade 90-95p until 11 March, then swing up or down. Was pleasantly surprised by what had gone on at the start of the week but am not too worried about being under £1 again. I'm going to hold off further investment in case it dips below 90p. It might be a good opportunity to average down a bit further.
