We'll given everyone needs to get a test if they get symptoms, that means nothing. Dropping from a requirement to get tested if pinged, to being "encouraged" to do so, is leaving it up to the individual. Many who don't feel encouraged will simply turn off the app once vaccinated and never get pinged again.

As informed investors will be aware, the ODX lab was set up to attempt to monetise the Elisa antibody testing, and the contract with screen4 is for access to that antibody testing.

Test to Release/ day 2/day 8 travel tests do not involve antibody tests.

THere hasn't been much researched discussion on here as to the potential price/profit of an ODX manufactured antigen test, whether the generic visitect version of the Mologic test, or the odx modified version, or indeed whatever test uk gov selects.

The CIGA "suresign" product is apparently the Wondfo chinese test, which has passed stage 3a validation and is a nasal wall type, and thus compatible with the DPS contracts. I see from the following link that that test will be selling at a ceiling of $2.50 in South Africa.

Mologic, who are also mentioned in there, are enabling TT for local manufacture in Senegal to serve Africa, and the following FIND article states a selling price of $2-$2.50

I did note that in the media reports around the pre-action letter that Mologic sent to DHSC, the Mologic MD was quoted as saying:-

"‘We are quietly convinced that this is one of the best rapid lateral flow diagnostics in the world, it is made in Britain and the UK does not want it. It also costs a quarter of the price of the Innova test."

A couple of weeks ago, Bighero found a response from the scottish government which said:-
"The Scottish Government does not buy tests directly, but instead receives a population share of the number of tests that the UK Government purchase as part of the UK wide Testing Programme. The approximate cost of a lateral flow test is around £4 per test (excluding VAT)."

It is possible of course that the £4 is not the cost price of the test, and uk gov is swallowing up some of the cost and giving the test to the various health depts of England/Wales/Scot/NI at a discount. Transportation costs have to be significant to get these tests into the UK

But it is the best price we currently have for Innova in the UK. Even allowing uk gov selling to PHE etc at 50% discount, (i.e a cost to uk gov for £8), it would mean Mologic indicating they can sell for £2 a test. That is not dissimilar to the Wondfo ceiling price of $2.50, nor the Mologic prices above.

So is there perhaps £1+ profit per sov test for odx ? (odx will have to pay a small per-unit royalty to Mologic)

Looks like ODX was right to make it a non price sensitive news release, the SP was as reactive to it as I thought.

I was specifically responding to a query from ZZtop1, nobody held your eyes open and forced you to read it.

It is interesting to note that whilst ODX put it out as an RNS NON, ABDX put it out as an RNS.

Given that ODX gets at least 25% of any RTC antibody orders, and the news relates to the antibody test, it raises the question, is it financially significant or not, they can't both be right ?

You will note that I have never given purchase/sales advise, or price predictions ever. I analysis what company news and relevant market news as it is released, and try to see how that pertains to manufacturing output for ODX as ODX is a manufacturer. I also feel it is important to reflect on what the company has previously said, and what has actually happened. And particularly when there are posters that have a repeated habit of posting wide grandious "you'd be a mug not to buy now", it is worth looking back and being reminded of the past history.

As ever, and it seems to be such a long time, orders are everything with ODX. They have gone on far too long without getting any that they thought worthy of an RNS. The mood from the presentation was that antibody RTC orders will be coming. If you look at the wording it is "lead to believe" and "expectation that demand will come". When you see that type of phraseology, you have to look at previous history, and the reality is that ODX have used those types of phrases before, and for whatever reason, it has not come to pass. They did say that they have sold some product to ABDX, which would be indicative of ABDX having some confidence about orders, so that is something.

So Antibody RTC orders looks more hopeful than it has for a while. But the timeline is not defined.

Antigen orders, the reality is that we are in mostly in a worse position than in Feb/March. At that time ODX was in the midst of TTing a test that everyone thought would be the sov test. And a HMG announcement would hit, and ODX would be producing tests immediately. Many assumed ODX was in fact stockpiling the Mologic test in readiness for the "when not if". Whereas now, not only is ODX still waiting for HMG to select a test, ODX definitely doesn't at this time have a test sitting ready and waiting that HMG could announce today as the candidate, nevermind Millions sitting in a stockpile for immediate delivery. ODX is now tweaking the mologic test, raising a query as to whether they will produce a generic mologic (to take advantage of mologic approvals already granted+ FDA approval) plus the improved version, that wasn't made clear. ODX are looking to accelerate the approval process for the tweaked one, but no actually indicative timeline.

So for a company whose SP will be (and currently is) reflective of confirmed orders, antibody looks potentially better than it has, but Antigen looks if anything further away than it did in Feb.

If you don't like MBs previous comments on the short term SP performance and how it actually turned out, take it up with him.

If you don't like being reminded of it, when he refers to the SP as a "gift", take it up with yourself.

Exactly 4 months later, that short term value/cash windfall turned out to be a decline of around.33%.

ODX might be closer to something than they were in April, but those in the prediction business should be checked for their past performance.

Now how accurate the expectation is, whether they've been informed correctly and what defines significant is open to debate of course. Again, RNSs/lack of them from ABDX will tell the tale here.

LFT are a yes no device. In consumer use, by the time you take in variations of how well the blood sample was taken, ambient temperature, did they read it an exactly the right time after presenting the sample etc, you can't take anything more than it reacted/didn't react.

In an artificial lab environment they were able to derive more information, but for that to be practical you now need the LFT devices to be sent to the lab to be read. So now you have the sample taking a few days getting to the lab, in various temperatures along the way, and rough handling. And you still don't know how good the original blood sample was.

Would appear to have limited real world use, but I guess any extra addressable market is a good thing.

Its basically saying that in a stable lab environment, they used the depth of colour of the line as a "stronger line= more antibodies" signal. But they are using it way outside its intended use and you still dont know how many, just that X had a sightly stronger colour than y.

"a supplementary product... that may indicate the strength of antibody response". Sounds like a fancy way of saying a colour card. When the manufacturer saying "may indicate" says it all.

Given the CEO said only 2 weeks ago in the presentation that they had the capacity for 2 million already in place, and at no time has ODX suggested going beyond 2M capacity, it seems to be a somewhat contradictory situation. In fact as we all know, ODX advised in March that they would be producing 2M a week by April. But it would be suggestive that the capacity has been at that level for 2 months.

It is possible this machinery is to support an increase in the finishing of whatever test they are currently repackaging for HMG.

Indeed it did. Also the wondfo video shows its a nasal wall test, not the one that has to go way up the nose. So not only does it have PD phase3 approval, the test is also compliant with the requirements of the £50-£384M contract.

It is also now notionally a british test, as Ciga is described as the 'manufacturer'. Of course it is not a uk designed test, but I wonder if that bit of PR has been quietly dropped.
