RE: Great news!14 Aug 2018 18:30
I’m still fairly new investor (since early May) but I done some serious research before investing and did have concerns about how much Li will be required in future with developments in battery technology. Had the boat sailed on this and would I be investing into something that would be mining something no longer required in the quantities expected.
But how I eventually saw it was that there will be changes in future to the amount of Li required per battery, but that the current aim of the end users, mainly the major car manufactures is to bring down the cost per KwH to allow EVs to compete Price for Price with CE vehicles. Allowing many boxes to be ticked, Government Targets, Customer Demand, The need to have supporting infrastructure installed, etc. This mass producing of EVs in the short/medium term can only be achieve using the best technology around at present, that being batteries requiring much more Li.
Once these goals have been reached and the battery technology has developed as it should do, then maybe less Li will be required per battery but will the overall demand still be on an upwards trajectory? Just look back over the past few months of the number of posts making reference to many uses to Li (Trains, Boats, Renewable Energy power storage, etc)
Then finally for me the ultimate decider was the USP that SAV had. This being that it’s European based and that with/without ongoing Trade Wars the major European based (not just owned) users of Li Batteries would want it available on their doorstep. There’s enough risks involved with the End to End production of EVs, etc. anything that can be done to reduce these will be a bonus.
So in short. Li still be required short and medium term (say upto 2030 at earliest), Europe want’s it’s own supply of Li. SAV is in a great position to meet both these.
As for the SP as mentioned already it’s still nicely up this year which is outstanding compared to peers, plus in the last few weeks held steady in the absence of any Resource/Strategy news. The Li project got me interested in SAV, Oman and Moz were already heavily discounted/written off that should anything come from these it’s a bonus to me. What these 2 projects have shown me though IMO the BoD and local teams do know what they’re talking about in the mining community, know these things take a long time and that it’s not over until it’s over.
I’m certain good news will come, will it be Q3/Q4/2019 or later I don’t know but I invested for long term and that to me was into the next decade at earliest.
I just add that in the short time involved, I’ve enjoyed all the posts on here both those that I agree with and those I don’t. I’ve learnt just as much from both sides.
Thanks All.
