RE: Very bad news for Reform UK25 Jul 2025 01:39
Strange thing to say STP. Anyone who were on the left and wished to register a protest vote would go straight to greens. On the right, they had lib dems (ohh err) or reform.
Cant believe i have to spell this out, but I dont think right wing reformers will flock to a loud and proud socialist corbyn! It doesnt take einstein to work out that a reform voter is not going to be too fond of corbyn and his priorities/ideals.
For starmer, it is a disaster. This has pretty much sealed his fate as a single term leader. Mass defects are expected. Its also a disaster for the greens, who will now lose their protest seats won to corbyn. Lib dems may lose a few votes, but not many. Tories and reform will be unaffected.
I do not at all underestimate how many seats corbyn will win however! I actually think he will win many seats in urban areas. Socialism has come back with a vengance in the UK over the last 15 years, right under the nose of the tories who allowed it to happen! Now kids have a vote, its very likely a lot of the 16 to 18 urban vote will go to corbyn!
i dont think its silly to suggest there are over 100 seats that are relatively low hanging fruit for corbyn which will all be taken from labour and the greens. Possibly more. There is a big following of pro palestine, pro immigration, pro woke, anti police, anti british socialist ideals out there. The tories allowed our urban centres to become a breeding ground for these ideals.
Reform will continue to galvanise the right, taking in the tory voters and making inroads at traditional labour heartlands who have become disenfranchised by labcons decades of lies and ignorance. Corbyn will hack away at hard left labour votes (and there are many), and greens will cease to exist in any form.
Starmer has nothing to lose now by going full-fledged centre and attempting to attract the libdem, tory and moderate reform voters. He will never win back support from the left vote, and now they have the real mccoy corbyn. He must go all in on boring centre policies now and getting a grip on the economy is key to achieving this and winning those Lib Dem votes.
In 2029, it will almost certainly be a hung parliament unless something radical changes. I cannot see any party getting a clear majority. Reform can easily win 250+ seats, corbyn say 50 but could be much more, labour 200ish (losing their massive majority), tories 100 or less. The rest fighting over the scraps. There is a lot of animosity between corbyn and starmer so any coalition there would be very volatile. A reform/tory coalition is more likely despite what the tories say about never forming an alliance with reform. This may be their only way back to power!
