The latest Investing Matters Podcast with Jean Roche, Co-Manager of Schroder UK Mid Cap Investment Trust has just been released. Listen here.
Ignore my last question, have just found out about zambian assets, had a lazy moment.
Have now put this on my radar apr thanks to your post over on arcm. Have been looking at where to diversify my pf next and this looks like it holds a lot of potential. I like the fact they have plenty happening within the next few months, which like you point out, if it is economically viable, could be a game changer here. Still reading up on ccz but do you know where the zambian assets are located? Many thanks
My gut feeling is the end of march for the deal.....it's either that or it's the dodgy curry i had last night
Tom, I bet you was that really annoying kid, who on a long journey, would ask every five minutes "are we there yet?" ;-)
Would be nice to emulate eua, agree, there's a strong possibility it will be similar.
Personally, I don't mind if the deal is done after April 6th, just after we can use new ISA allocation. Obviously would like the sp to gradually increase between now and then. Think I'm being reasonable with that request
Agree tom that the sp should really be higher than it is at present. If it's any consolation, this share has frustrated and disappointed me for over 12 years......upto that is, last year.
Now it's the most exciting share I've owned, we'll know within weeks the outcome, so chill out, switch off from the daily sp movements, don't worry 'cos every little thing's gonna be alright'
Value will out in the end.
Yes I'd second that @apr, it does seem the most rewarding path to go down. The 3rd option I suppose, albeit the least probable, is we go it alone, will be self funded for future exploration and you never know....we may even hit the motherload that seems to be lurking within our acreage
What a great position we are now in....very exciting times for arcm and us as shareholders. When AA first came into play, i was happy with a full takeover but after last week's CC my mindset is now veering toward the JV. Longer term, I believe we would benefit more with a JV. Great dilemma for arcm to have. Can honestly say I've never been in a share with so much promise and potential upside as this has at present.

Market starting to see sense now....about time
In one of the interviews nvs did last year, he stated that he had taken a call from a major who described our drill results (to date at the time) were the 'best they had seen out of Africa within the last decade' . Since then we've more and even better results. I don't think AA are too worried about the quality or quantity of what we have, on the contrary i would imagine they're more than happy. As regards muswema drill, it looks like they were aiming for end of last drilling season, now looks like it'll be when they get boots on the ground after the rainy season ends. Muswema certainly looks exciting
I'd second that apr, accurate assesment of where the sp has been. We seem to have support at 6p-6.5p
Suppose you have to take into account the fact that Glencore have just sold up in Zambia for any newbies making an investment here. As good as an investment it is here at Arcm, and i believe its unbelievably good, it's never actually over until the fat lady sings.
However, when you look at Glencore's future strategy, and where they are focused on, zambia wasn't it. Yes they have had their runnings with the zambian gvnt but if you spoke to nvs, you would realise that he is very happy anf comfortable working within zambia, and has faith in their judicial system (based upon english law) if the need ever arose to have to use it....which I'm certainly not expecting to.
Remember, nvs has previously operated in Indonesia, a far more difficult and corrupt regime, so i personally am not worried in the slightest with regards Glencore leaving Zam.
Hope this helps put your mind at rest PG, now, go top up whilst you can at these levels ;-)

For those that missed it, newbies, or those that have forgotten, above is a link to the investor call from last July. Well worth a listen, very positive and encouraging, it's what made me realise what an opportunity we have here. Enjoy.
I'm happy for it to take months if it means replicating what SOLG did. Held for years now, what's another few months. Personally i wouldn't want to be out though as the deal could land at any time, AA will know the results of the current drilling, let's face it, the last 6 months of drilling has no doubt been funded by them, so they'll have a figure in mind already.
We're in the fortunate position to not have to accept a low ball offer, at least 2 other majors have tapped nvs up, plus a private equity investor, so if, and it's a big if, AA pull out then there are others waiting in line to take this on
I believe that AA will be the ones to do clinch the deal though, their history with this area, 9 of their previous top 10 ranking targets being within our acreage, nvs's history with AA, it just all seems to fall into place.
Been investing a long time and I've never felt such a win win situation as ARCM are at present.
I also think this will be weeks, got a feeling for early feb.
Awaiting a big chunk of money arriving in my hands end of this week, would very much like to add to my holding, so if the sp could just hang around here for a week, I'd be most grateful. Don't think I'm asking too much there am i?
Regards JV, I also believe longer term, that would be the most rewarding outcome for us. However, something nvs said back in July, makes me think it will be a buy out.
Yes seems metaltech are doing well there. Looking likely they'll get the Jorc over the threshold for us to capitalise on, and as you say the grades certainly do look promising.
Thanks @apr, and good luck to you also sir. Regards sturec, i never fully had confidence in it, mainly from researching previous co's who had tried and were driven out by the locals, being in a heritage site was always going to put the brakes on that i thought. Zamsort/Zaco however, thats a whole new ball game
@sta60, agree that vasillios played an absolute blinder in getting zamsort, certainly is the game changer for us. £1.60, wow, didn't realise just how much dilution we long termers have had to endure, certainly puts it into perspective.
Still looking at topping up even now, only thing is, after all those years of getting it down, it will now start bringing average back up lol
