RE: Not what I was expecting…30 Jul 2022 11:45
An interesting article which most, including me, are going to strongly disagree with on here.
However - he does have a point regarding the management focus on separating division at a time when, perhaps, they ought to have an eye on how they are going to grow revenue streams and move to profitability as the pandemic wanes and people return to the High Street.
If M&A or strategic partnerships or floating individual parts of the business is going to be the way we move forward (which I assume it is) then separating the divisions makes enormous sense and delivers on a previous promise.
However - if M&A doesn't materialise, if strategic partnerships aren't formed and if the current environment is conducive for floating off divisions - then the writer of the article may have a point in that the management are reorganising the deck chairs as the boat sinks!
Having said all that - I can't see how he can suggest that the share price has for further to fall given the cash at bank, valuation of the individual businesses and, at the moment, quarter on quarter growth.
An interesting perspective, though, from someone who hasn't been invested in this and is considering whether to buy or not.
