Pete - I read an article only the other day regarding the funding of not both the UK civil but also the military nuclear which are inextricably linked due to costs, lots of smoke and mirrors. The US has the potential to delink due to scale, but for the UK there's significant synergies, hence the logic of RR producing civil SMR and the power plants for our subs. If I can find the article I'll put the link up. Hopefully rather than scrapping our plutonium stocks as millipede wants we'll see the sense like the US and reprocess to civil fuel.

Back in July I did a little exercise I charted a line from 29th July 24 to 29th July 25, bear with me. Results earlier this year took us above that trend line and after the tangerine tantrum took until early July to climb over that trend line. Since then we're still above it except for a couple of minor dips, but the overall trend is still up, just. today we're bang on the trend line as I type. Not time time panic yet, just frustrating that GE were not similarly hit by the same volatility. We in the UK have our own micro environment driven by an administration that should've had a no confidence vote ordinarily, imho.

Rare earths are indeed rare, but not as rare as we're told, huge deposits in US, Canada, Oz, South America, Africa and Europe, Greenland that place trump wants to buy etc . The big issue is that in the west we don't like open cast mining on the scale required nor the environmental impacts which we're quite happy to leave in china, for now.
