The fears around AI dependent companies is high at the moment. The internet and associated data centres / mobile comms are massive power consumers, way beyond Joe or Joetta publics comprehension and the consequent need for always on power, they're not going away. If you take the annual subsidy cost of Net Zero, as publicised again today in the uk, amounting to £14bn per year, that's a heck a lot of SMR's at todays low volume costs. It's all been gone into before but we're in desperate need of diverse and dependable base load. Few of the public understand the difference between wifi and mobile or realise how dependent our mobile lives are on the local mobile masts staying up during a power outage. In my old life the masts had about 30min of backup power, often less as they weren't tested very often, they used to send out engineers with backup generators to keep them going if the outage was going to be longer.

I see market screener forecast that revenue peaks in 2025 and then forecasts that it drops back in 26 /27, this mirrors the forecasts on simply Wall Street. I've never found out why they're forecasting a drop? Does anyone here have any idea why as it's not what we're witnessing? thanks

Had my other half’s investors ‘lunch’ yesterday, the markets were discussed at some length, always interesting, but the food was a bit lacking this time😂. They seem to believe, couched in the usual non committal terms, that the bull markets will continue with the occasional pull back into Trumps 3rd year. They don’t invest, unlike us, in RR or defence stocks, but hopefully they’re right and the bullish market sentiment continues for us too.

CGPT has its uses, but yes it makes mistakes, I use it, it’s handy as long as you recognise when its assumptions are wrong and tell it, not had it come back and correct me yet, but as you say it apologies 😂

Forgemasters is 'owned' by the MOD (UK taxpayers) , it's expanding funnily into ground it used to own, to build gun barrels in Meadowhall, very close to the existing plant. My recently departed father in law worked there, I've heard a few stories good and bad, but steel production like energy and water.have no place in foreign hands. Lets hope that RR can resist the inevitable pressure to buy cheap steel from abroad, bad enough that we have to buy the coking coal when we sit on another 100 years of coal ourselves

The anti nuclear elements run strong in the labour (CND supporting) party, doesn't take much to derail nuclear and our illustrious muppet of an energy secretary is anti nuclear, more money and a future job for him in the renewables sector.

Markets worldwide seem to be in the red

November choppy yes, between it and October it wiped the great gains of September, this year has contrasted significantly with 2024 where Oct / Nov showed small incremental gains. Hopefully December will at least see us hold our own as last year ready for a January / February climb.

29th September SP - 1163 today were hovering around 1070 a drop for sure but honestly for me unless you need it it's a nuisance rather than a catastrophe, it'll pick itself up.

September 25 we gained 120 points, October dropped 23, November is looking like 97 ish down

September 24 we gained 63 points, October gained 8, November gained 23

The last 3 months have been poor, but we've been trumped and reeved as well as sweaty palms around AI. We may see some better gains in Dec and Jan than we did last year (dec 10, Jan 37) as we recover the largely AI drop.

It was feb 24 before we saw an appreciable gain of 138 points, 2026 hopefully will be the same

Personally I was happy with the budget today.

"They have an industrial policy and RR is front and centre especially SMR. If the conservatives were still in they would have gone with westing house at the Wales site and not support a British company." I disagree in term of industrial policy, beyond renewables there appears to be no policy, except for RR and yes Coutinho made a right horlicks of the procurement process by allowing the OJEU rules on competition to slow the progress of nuclear deployment

Glad we have RR SMR selected and going ahead as it always should've, I'm sure Westinghouse will get their reactor allocation

Let’s hope we can make some serious gains here before the next cap in hand budget in the spring! I’ve no doubt they’ll be back again when the next ‘black hole’ is found

Never heard so many 'leaks', they're desperate for the markets to not do what they did to truss, they've been on a fishing trip for the points of least resistance. Looks like some of the hits will come towards the end of their term, which means spending until there's really no more money and stacking up a mahoosive issue for the next administration.

My calculations make that £999,998,473 so almost done or as close to £1bn as needs be

Allow people more of their money and then they spend it, netting more vat/taxes. Our issue is we don't produce anything much that people can afford in the country, we also pay too much in the way of benefits, for too long, gone are the days of it being a temporary safety net. We also allow too many people to be cash only industries where our tax take is minimal or non existent, like barbers
