Imo not anymore. You have to look across the market at M&A in general. There are many ‘safer’ take over plays but still the ‘big boys’ are intent on decarbonisation. Facing lots of decommissioning costs and a reduction in oil volume demand. Don’t confuse the POO with volume sold they are distinctly different drivers that the mainstream don’t discuss as it’s economically negative speak.

Even if we find oil we then have to get the govt ‘approval’ to move to production. We then got to fund that production or at least in the absence of a JV be able to do so.

There are some hurdles that will be in place no matter how many billion barrels of probable oil.

This is not a deramp, it’s pretty much the unsaid. Most investors hear are fully aware of those risks. I hold cognisant of those risks because as each risk is peeled back, and there is no guarantee, then the rerate here will be rather significant. But likewise imo it’s punt money. But what is punt money to me is a different perspective to every other investor. That’s what makes a market. But gosh I don’t want to be out!

Through fear of complacency I am going to put some time aside the weekend to deramp my investment here. It’s something I always do. We don’t spend enough time in the W &T of SWOT and in a climate like this it’s healthy to have a pop at our own holdings!

My point is, going forward they don’t have to trial a home trial. And that has a wider significance.

I interpret the home trial as more about proof of concept. Can we get a drug to someone at home. Can they administer it properly. Do we have the infrastructure in place to support them. Can folk actually engage remotely using today’s technology.

Imo whether it was a placebo or not isn’t that relevant.

The P3 trial will prove whether the drug works. For sure the home trial feeds into the dataset but if P3 is successful then we basically have an on the shelf paradigm to treat at home, remotely and all the benefits that brings.

You have basically validated a huge saving and could have a remote support, call centre type operation to enable home use. That option is huge! And should feature on every governmental pandemic contingency staircase whether it’s for SNG or another similar drug.

In that sense the home trial is an overwhelming success but it will only become value enhancing once if P3 is successful as I doubt as usual our governments can read across such opportunities.

Unless of course it comes from some highly paid McKinsey type think tank. And trust me I have done several projects with them on secondment in a past life and have little confidence it will happen and even if it did it wouldn’t be quickly.

Totally agree that’s why I have a decent investment in ONC. They have a govt grant to do just that working with lighthouse labs and the results are due soon.

Yes they do. They will usually have some long position or a hedge to cover a short.

Whilst the example shown was just for illustration. It can of course get very complex with various short and long positions.

What you may also find with more liquid stocks is a ‘short attack’ or a ‘bear raid’ where several hedge funds will continue to pray on a weak stock.

This can have a snowball effect as holders may get spooked, stopped out, delay buying or just sell.

You will find some of the top pro’s like Muddy Waters’ Carson Block will trawl through a companies accounts and publicise snippets of any irregularities over a period of time whilst driving their short position. Sometimes it’s justified sometimes it may be overplayed.

When I saw the short interest building in Carillon, which I held as a divi stock, I just sold and from memory that was near £3. No amount of research could combat a position like that. It’s best just to sell with a view of getting in lower or not at all. I got out just in time! Others didn’t. But even the shorters can loose if a stock goes into liquidation.

It’s worth watching the short tracker. Sometimes it’s normal opportunism or just hedging but sometimes it’s concerted. I wouldn’t touch PMO now!

I have not had any further update from the company. I don’t know. But last time there was a hint I think we went to 2:80 after that dissipated we traded back to 190-220 range. So there’s still a good chance that it’s not in the price.

As I posted before, the tech is proven and being used by others. But imo it’s moving it from a lab to a volume ‘turnstile test’ that may be proving more challenging.

It’s a bit like the innova lateral flow test, 98% S&S in a lab then 48% when in community.

It’s just a best guess that that is what the refinement is as the lab based claims would be accurate.

So I think the are working on capturing viral load and stability of the analyser after repeated use.
