“ National Grid cashes in on energy price surge
National Grid has upgraded its profit forecasts after cashing in on the recent surge in energy prices.

The utilities giant said it expects underlying profits in its UK business to be above the guidance given in November, mainly driven by higher inflation.

It comes after the price cap on energy bills soared 54pc from the start of this month, while a further rise is expected at the next review in October.”

IMO This is gonna to 250p next week when investors realise that Q1 vix has been so high!!

I also expect same response at CMCX, still oversold there imo!

I mean there has been a war, volatile metal and soft commodity prices plus markets been all over the place second guessing the Fed’s inflationary response!

Nonetheless victory for the contrarians here imo !

I just happened to have some cash from the trading pot free so added here today. Sells were 130 and buys 124 which was the price for my buy. Madness!

These guys have income from loads of contracts, all will be revealed soon.

They aren’t all sells, the spread is tight and the ALGO here has a 15min delay meaning buys can show as sells and vice versa.

It’s the volume that is key. It’s now over 1p to sell which is also key.

Whilst there has been a seller I expect a lot of the trades are PI’s either working their average like myself or waiting for a breakout before committing to building a position.

Todays breakout was a good sign for new money that needs to see that the share is capable of pulling itself clear of a penny before investing.

They may have bought at +1.02 up and be looking to add again as close to a penny as possible. Sellers would also see that a penny or more is now on. That is how a support is formed.

Folk would have taken a lot of confidence from todays move even though it was sold into. It’s a good sign of things to come imo.

Great set of numbers again.

Whenever I get cash to pop into here the spread kills it though! Liquidity is an issue but once in the divi’s are fantastic.

Still on the watchlist for now though.

The lift in commodity prices is having a huge impact on the balance sheet here. This will be debt free in a blink!

Wow - Schroeder’s have gone to 10.9% of APF crossing on 8th April.

The previous holding box is blank but I assume it was around 7.3% if this is accurate. So they have grabbed over 3%.

I am over 30% up here now and not long ago invested for the quarterly divi! Pretty amazing and still a huge delta between SP and prorata commodity price rises especially for cobalt.

I emailed and asked about the preemption rights, special resolution 7. Not had a reply yet but will post when/if I get one.

Well well, could that be the start of the bounce. Gotta be careful as the spread has gone out but volume is turning in favour of buys. RSI-14 flipped from 38 to 42. Could be the start of a claw back from oversold.

Expecting this to get back to 250p soon before next move up.

Hi Sam,

My largest position is TXP. I first bought them at 11p but averaged up on the recent pullback to now around 40p from memory.

I expect them to get to £7.50 over the years with a fair wind and pay a nice divi.

After that it’s here at 185p is then SAVE at 8.3p.

I rate TXP a buy sub 100p for a long term hold and likewise SAVE if you can grab some around 30p. They should get to 85p within a year (broker target). Both will give you trading opportunities to improve your average or you can just buy and forget if you can cope with the volatility.

I am a pretty active trader but I have held TXP and SAVE for sometime. I buy small caps and cash out to buy much needed income. That’s how I came across GLO. Running the numbers here and across a few others.

I get over 8% income across a dozen stocks all with a well covered divi. Well that’s the story now but I can change my approach according to the macro and company dynamics and may grab other opportunities as I see them.

A good buy atm is GCAT (a gold producer/explorer) where I am still building a position sub 1p so don’t buy too many!

Nice aspirations but you need to deduct the AISC from the POG to get your forward projections.

But hey it’s still bullish!

What will be interesting is the quarterly report as we will be able to forecast the cashflow to year end and have a better understanding around how they intend to spend the revs.
