The status of the test has nothing to do with UK government. The sensitivity of a test is not either anything covered by an NDA. Tech transfer...nope......

The lack of communication and the waffle we were given last RNS has nothing to do with Boris (but maybe he acted as a waffle consultant). The company is learning, that's ok, we knew that at the start.

LFD developed with Cytiva.

Anyone know the details of the arrangement. Avacta own the LFD I think but I’m wondering if Cytiva get a royalty as opposed to materials payment, and if development was done for free on the back of higher revenues later.

Owner company would be an obvious buyer for diagnostics and as Cytiva and Klaus not mentioned much, is it a case what the eye doesn’t see the hand gets away.

Not sure why a new strain would need new test. The test is reacting to a protein which may or may not have changed in the mutation. Affimers bind to part of that protein which may not have changed configuration.

Let’s wait and see, before assuming new test required.

Would each target for an affimer have its on IP protection eg Spike protein gets its own IP thereby blocking some new entrants to the cherry picked targets ?

The optimer figures are 10% siliva. Given that saliva is complex with all sorts of stuff in it, does”diluting” it in buffer allow binding and attraction to increase? Does diluting increase the ability of optimers to meet target and so given 15 minutes or so,diluting makes the test more sensitive not less?

Does the Elisa test from Avacta use a buffered solution to add saliva to ?

I guess LFD has problem that target flows past quickly all be it in a thin layer.

That’s what we do here. For me it means all sampling can have issues abs accuracy is better if you combine them.

So first swab your nose, spit in cup, swab into spit, swab into a buffer solution (swirl) and then apply buffer to LFD. Not hard, apart from last step that’s what’s done here.

Buffer to wash out antigens from the swab and optimize ph, viscosity. Etc

Don’t see why you need 2 tests, combined sampling it not interfering it seems.

Sure be nice to double sales but we probably can’t meet demand so hej ho.

As mentioned before in Sweden we started with brain biopsy type swab.

Then we moved to back of throat, please don’t throw up test.

We have now moved to throat, nose, and spit. One swab, abs soil first collected in paper cup, swab swirls in it, then into a tube with a liquid. 3 chances of picking up virus material.

That’s implies to me that the triple sample works better.

It’s PCR testing, so it maybe that Avacta have been informed that tests using this triple type approach work better and that buyers will buy the best performance / cost they can. If you told “ we are only gonna try out triple sample test cos we are stretched on validation slots, I can see why Avacta would change.

To be fair on Avacta, no one was doing this triple test 6 months ago.

Likely all western markets certification slots looking for triple test? Look at issue with innova. Maybe issue is with sampling not the test per say.

If that is reason to expand to nose swab why not say?

So maybe all the above just wishful thinking and charitable mood brought on by pasta and red wine.

Cytiva thing started by someone making a timeline that was fantasy. Needed a reason why his expertise was perfect. Cytiva design strip and partner in all sorts of ways. Bbi make that design(TT).
