That can be hydrogen, that can be supercapacitors, that can be batteries.” Agag still holds that batteries are the only practical solution that we currently have, even if their chemical composition may well change. He is still keeping alternatives in mind.

Especially this part is interesting since I think there is only one technical solution available for this:

Fast-charge pitstops

As reported by Motorsport.com, the new car will feature fast-charging pitstop technology – “in order to keep positioning the Formula E world championship as the laboratory of cutting-edge technologies for electric cars”.

The tender documents explain that the Gen3 car must be capable of being fully charged in 45-minutes, with a 30s fast-charge ability – it is unclear if this means fully charged in 30s. The fast-charging technology will mean a change to FE’s sporting rules, with fast-charge pitstops set to be allowed.

Jameshinvest, I'm pretty convinced cap-xx ip is involved. I think Murata wants to take as long as possible under the radar to keep ahead of competition. I think AK doesnt want to put their good collaboration at risk (or even under embargo). Waiting patiently untill the first samples are shipped mid februari and looking forqard to dismantle them :-)

Www.sinuss.nl called me today about my cr2032 order... Since they didnt have them on stock, I got the request if they could ship different batteries... after explaining why I needed these particular once, he started laughing and he confirmed me that he will ship them right away once he receives them on 18th february. Exciting times again :-)

Interesting that maxell is also mentioned. Is this the same one which is brought to court ?

I wonder when the next licensee is announced... wouldnt be surprised that a new customer base has woken up... Panasonic is on my shortlist..

Price difference between cr2032 and cr2032R (50% more lifetime) is 1.04 € vs 1.24 €... I know which I would design in for my applications in case I would like to minimise maintenance costs in the field...

Nitrams question, brings me to another point:

If I remember correct, the cap-xx license was extended to these batteries for Murata.

If so:
1 this is another strong clue.
2 does anyone know the details (percentage of sold products, and how is the product defined ? Total battery, only the component ?)

Nitram, thanks for your good remark from a different perspective.

My take on it: maybe a discount for a certain time or volume, but the projected market is too big to give the IP totally away.

OS, would be nice if you can share your view on this conspiracy theory, since I learned that you have the competence to approach these things from a more negative direction and I honestly hope that you can’t figure out an alternative theory....;-)

This would explain why they are so generous with the old line transferred for pocket money to cap-xx. They are extremely gratefull for being able to release such a disruptive product and becoming the leading edge in this huge market of coin cells... I think this statement will become true as soon as we learn that cap-xx ip is onboard.

Jameshinvest, thanks for sharing link. I just noticed it after I made a new thread based on the same topic. Great find !! I already ordered some long range cr2032. One to explore the inner world and the others to use in my car fob’s... if my suspection is right, I will top up massively within 5 minutes after receiving them @home/investiageted the inner world and after that a bottle of champagne will be opened ;-)

Ordered 5x CR2032r on www.sinuss.nl.... I hope this will not become the same story as the Samsung pen a few years ago (some might remind this...)
