It’s got nothing to do with selling out cheap. It’s to do with getting to the main prizes more quickly.

Getting taken over by a company that has the resources to commercialise the developing pipeline far more quickly is much better than being taken over by a company that will pay say twice as much but take twice as long to get the following drugs developed. Even worse if they sideline the current Avacta BoD over the following months.

What do you think is more important to CC ? Making a quick buck on her options and moving on somewhere else OR making less but getting AVA6000 and the following pipeline to market and maintaining control of the whole thing along the way? (Clue- read her CV)

Re shareholders losing out:

It depends on the conversion rate. I wouldn’t want to get say £2 worth of Pfizer shares for one of my Avacta shares.

Our IIs have a longer term view than us and probably a far smaller proportion of their investment funds invested.

How about this for a scenario::

A big bad BP with billions invested in ADC buys us for £2 a share and then locks the IP away in a safe for 5 years?

Certainly I think the BoD and the IIs will want a quick path to commercialisation of the pipeline. We are talking peanuts for what AVA6000 will be worth in comparison. An assured future and £billions is far more important than peanuts today.

This isn’t a bank or a miner or manufacturer or a retailer

The money is far less important that what the new parent can offer regarding the future for the technology and associated pipeline of drugs and the careers of the BoD and key employees.

It is already a done deal 50p+ 50p worth of shares in Novartis. IMHO of course

So just to be clear. There will be no bidding war. It has all been sorted already in anticipation of arm2 delivering. At that point we will become a division of Novartis. IMHO only of course.

It isn’t a case of the BoD putting a value on Avacta. It is a case of accepting an offer that will ensure that Avacta exists as a whole entity in its new company and gets the resources and self management it needs to get AVA6000 and the rest of the pipeline commercialised.

The BoD don’t want a quick buck they want a quick and safe route forward. That is why I keep say it isn’t about the money. These guys are more altruistic than that.

And what the PIs say will carry little weight in any decision.

Many on here keep repeating “it’s all about the science”. I keep repeating that the TO when it comes is not about the price. The current shareholders are going to be heavily influenced by the BoD and the deal will be with the company that offers the best fit with Avacta and above all can take in Avacta as an almost autonomous department maybe even subsidiary so that the lead players can continue to quickly produce a pipeline of lifesaving drugs. IMHO of course

Agree entirely with your post and the underlying sentiments.

I’d love them to hold off until start of P2 but the recent BoD shuffle and specific skill sets makes me feel that Autumn is more likely.

When Al said the equivalent of don’t worry about funding with a wry smile it kind of makes you think that the writing was on the wall already.

Anyway arm 2 is the key for me.

Not for me. But it would suit Avacta, CC, Novis and the IIs. Quickest way to get it all going. I said when CC joined that she’d been parachuted in by Novis.

Some posters wished for Al to go - he’s gone.

Some posters are wishing for a takeover as a means to get a lifesaving drug to market as quick as possible and hopefully to give them a large early return on their investment.

Al’s departure certainly clears the way for a takeover and I can’t help think that CC and her buddy have been parachuted into Avacta as part of the forthcoming deal.

But what is the point of a takeover ?

Avacta needs money resources and the stability and everything else that a bigger company can provide.

Novis would be getting another string to its bow in the attack on cancer, hedging its bets to some extent, and a new technology that can be leveraged in some of its developing solutions. Everyone’s a winner.

What do you think we are worth to the buyer? Consider this: 50p plus 50p’s worth of shares in the taking over company. That would still be a hefty mark up on today’s closing SP and a good premium on the recent fund raise.

What do you think the takeover deal will look like?

Tried saying nothing over the weekend but some Pom Pom girls were lonely and still carried on their lunatic rabble rousing post. One even said they enjoyed the arguments

You will not be billed for more than the compensation you are awarded.

Regarding SP: what I meant is that a successful action might cause a slight drop in the SP so I might as well get something back by joining the class action.

I came to the same conclusion. I was alerted to this in a message from HL. It seems to be genuine and follows on from a successful class action for US shareholders of BLT/BHP in the qualifying period.

I am in two minds to register. Not sure I’ll get a lot out of it but also concerned that if the class act is successful then the SP may suffer so I want something to offset that possibility 🤣
