It isn’t up to Avacta to skip P1b. The phase 1 trial has been registered as two specific stages with different aims. I cannot find any registration of Phase 2 of the trial but pleased to be corrected.

Chemo has a nasty ring to it and tumours often return.

ADCs offer permanent cure and the use of AI is helping bring down the costs.

As with most things it will be a balance. How much to get it to market and how long can it be sold for. I guess that it has at least a 4 year lead on a better 3rd generation drug from Avacta also a smarter move from them would be to choose their initial 3rd generation drug not to be a competitor for AVA6000 but to address a different disease.

Hopefully we will get more info on the 30th.

As usual you take things to extremes just to have an argument.

I have not said that work on AVA6000 will stop. Of course it won’t. But it cannot be allowed to delay development of 2nd and 3rd generations. Plus data from P1b and P2 will be useful in future development.

Why do you find it necessary to find something in my posts to misrepresent just so you can try to score points?

A deal has to be struck for AVA6000 that is where the results data is. Hopefully enough pointers at end of P1b for Novartis to make a move. Else we will have to wait until P2 delivers sound efficacy on a significant scale.

Cannot see a deal on 2nd / 3rd generations right now. It’s too early. But could be a deal for AVA3996.

Avacta are in a tricky position because AVA6000 is showing great promise (not my words) but they have already signaled that it is ‘old hat’ so putting a limit on its useful life.

No doubt that some of the language is worrying:

1. CC is obviously over the moon at the 2nd and 3rd generation prospects

2. One of the boffins is gushing about what they have learned from AVA6000 almost identifying it as a step in the development process rather than an endpoint

Having said that I still believe the plan will be a JV of some sort for AVA6000 providing funds for 2nd and 3rd generation development and also removing the distraction of AVA6000 so they can get on with a much more exciting development.

Anyway we will know on 30th so no point in guessing.

Certainly Al’s strategy seemed to be a JV on 3996 to fund 6000 to completion. In December the slide show had quite a bit on 3996.

I can’t see how they can avoid telling us about 3996 at the end of the month.

Suspect most will hold fire until we get a fuller picture at the end of the month.

As I said previously- I think that P1b results will be good enough to get a JV deal for AVA6000 and that way provide funds for pipeline development.

Lovable why are you continuing this pointless harassment of me? Timster has confirmed that activity in the stromal region isn’t new. All I said originally is that I couldn’t see the frenzy of excitement over ESMO presentation because the only new info is that 2 weekly dosing doesn’t materially impact the safety/tolerance. That is important but if you thought it would adversely impact it to any significant degree then you clearly don’t understand the science.

For the avoidance of doubt my stance as posted earlier is:

1. Platform works

2. Response not dependent on FAP level

3. Half life doesn’t seem to be an issue now with 2 weekly dosing

4. The focus now is on 2nd and 3rd generation development

The latter is colossal news but that was covered comprehensively in Spotlight 5 before ESMO presentation.

Now find someone else to persecute and at least be sure of your facts first.
