C7 the policy now abandoned, (i.e. waiting for herd immunity), has not worked. However all credit to BJ for having the strength to change his mind. I have my own doubts that the advisory nature of the new measures will be sufficient, as Macron is finding in France.

Frequently one hears talk about the UK being weeks behind the trajectory of the Italian outbreak and that is a truly horrible prospect. You take care over there . .

The progress of Covid-19 in Thailand, (and in other hot climates), should be of interest. Although Th. Govt. action often seems confused, there is still some independent comment from a moreorless free press. AFAIK it doesn't seem that Patients are piling up at the Hospitals atm.

Amongst other measures here, football was stopped 3 weeks ago and the massive Thai New Year 'Songkran' festival is being widely curtailed but on the other hand, the Govt. have not been decisive in handling possibly infected 'Returnees' from China, S. Korea etc.

Scene set, why is a hot climate of interest ? There's comment but not scientific proof yet, that heat might inhibit the spread of the virus as it does with 'flu. In which case as spring and summer warm up Europe, the UK might get some relief from this rampant virus.

Just MO but I think BJ should dispense with Vallance and Whitty and listen to the WHO.

My opinion is formed I hope with some common sense AND by watching events in recent months in the Nations affected so far by Covid-19 AND by reading the opinions of the apparently vast majority of OTHER experts around the World (not just the no doubt well intentioned Whitty and Vallance whose views have until now, attracted BJ) AND because I have watched in horror as many other Countries have suffered so much because they have acted too slowly at first. EARLY and DRASTIC action is in my admittedly unscientific opinion, the best route for any Country and jigger aspects such as 'herd immunity' and 'behavioural exhaustion'.

I also note a comment that if China had acted 3 weeks earlier, the numbers affected would have been reduced by 95% plus consistent comments coming from WHO . . .

You seem to be one of the few, thinking the 'herd immunity' and 'social exhaustion' issues are more important than the opinions of epidemiologists and the Covid-19 experiences around the world so far and the WHO and most others of a medical bent.

Interesting revelation that if China had taken draconian measures 3 weeks earlier then it's number of cases would have been cut by 95% - yes 95% . . .

Horrors in Italy, Spain, France and elsewhere and I shudder to think how 3.5 million refugees / migrants in privation in Turkey will cope . In the UK - we just want to Party ! Does the UK populace still have a propensity for self-discipline and pulling together ? We'll see . . .
