This is his experience : “Wow, what fantastic discipline and anti-virus security! You are marshalled into a queue, with 4-5 yards between each other, outside the store. As each person comes out of the store his trolley is emptied and spray-sanatised . The next person in the queue takes the trolley and goes into the store. (A maximum of 20 shoppers are allowed at any one time in our very large Waitrose store.) Attentive staff with sanitising spray and cloths are dusting everything and everywhere continuously. When you go to the self-check-out, the screen etc and all the shopping stacking shelves are sanitised in front of you by the staff before you start pressing any icons etc. (There are now no serious shortages of any items.)
Back to the car where we disinfect the door and boot handles with sanatised hand wipes before opening. As soon as we sit down in the car, before touching anything, we sanitise our hands and the car/house keys. We drive home, unload, hang up our outer clothes in the garden, enter the house, unpack and then hand wipe with bleach mixture all shopping, put the shopping away, put our carrier bags out in the garden, wash all house door handles and all used unloading/unpacking kitchen surfaces with bleach solution and then we wash our hands. Now, and now only, can we touch our faces.
We went for a walk up the hill to the church this morning. Not one car nor anybody passed us. Very quiet, almost weird with no traffic on the big dual carriageway below us except the odd large supermarket delivery truck. A new way of life indeed!“ ""

This first article, is scathing of the Govt's change of direction from the original push for 'herd immunity' :-

By that I mean that the delays have been bad enough, but imagine if Scancell had incurred the massive costs of recruiting and treating patients and were midway through both trials only to find that Coronavirus led to breaks in protocol which impacted on data integrity.

I would assume that everything is now on hold as far as new trials are concerned until the situation becomes much clearer."

WTP - as for 'business as usual', then the SCIB1 Combo trial may atm be open or not, but there are no Patients dosed. Bermuda posted recently and suggested that the arrival of Covid-19 has in this respect only, affected Scancell less than it might have otherwise. But, when normal life resumes one day, will Scancell be able to get Patients dosed then ? TCOY

Nom, I felt those Diamond Princess passengers were imprisoned in a 'Covid-cooker' at the time. Absolutely horrible for them and shocking that they could not have been evacuated to a military base, hotel or similar. I'd guess the Cruise industry is terminally damaged.

Crumbs, you've long noted 'Test test test' as being overwhelmingly important and it's particularly true in trying to keep NHS Health teams as free of Covid-19 as possible - (even if the test is not 100% authoritative).

This crisis is uniquely difficult but our Govt. has not done well - herd immunity, lockdown and testing policy each woolly and dilatory IMHO. As ever, better late than never but my thoughts are with you Guys. GL.

The pace is picking up in Th. now and their management of the crisis is patchy to say the least.
