There is still life on this site - thought everybody had been rubbed out with the change to the new format. Suppose I'll get used to it, like all the flags up here - at least some of the bonfires have been moved and reduced.
Very slowly becoming a more orderly society but the progress is measured in centimeters. Apparently an election has to be called up here when Parliament resumes, with the new Conservative leader installed WHO IS APPARENTLY GOING TO MASSAKREE Corbyn - some hopes.
Sentiment is terrible at the moment but, what else could it be when stocks have become so soggy even with the cheap money.

Maybe like me, she expected that she had joined a bank with ambition but has found it hard to make the progress/changes that she no doubt discussed at her interview when the responses encouraged her to think that this was an exciting opportunity.
I think that she has now encountered, as I did, the "present" culture of the bank and found it to be much like the Vatican administration - immovable.
Maybe it is time that she moved on - it is only by leaving perhaps, that changes will be made to the benefit of long- suffering shareholders.
Maybe she just wants a rise - in which case, I would offer her a cushion.

What I did not enjoy was the sequencing outlined this morning which described the Tory's and Brexit "after Boris's Coronation."
What was suggested today, was that he would be elected and proceed immediately to withdraw the UK from Europe, as soon as this was in motion and completed he would call a general election which his party WILL LOSE.

Leaving the job of fixing the system and clearing up the resulting mess to others - talk about Kamikaze tactics.

The world really has gone mad it seems - thank god I don't live in London because I might attempt a Guy Fawkes moment instead of lighting a candle.

Good post from Observe - the bank can't be shorting itself can it? or am I missing the point - just cannot get excited at the moment with the farce that is Brexit. The talent available OR pushing themselves forward to be the next Conservative Prime Minister is really getting me mad.
Normally I can rid myself of an attack of the glooms over it by getting out in the fresh air and mashing a golf ball round the links. Since we moved in last October the pace has been relentless - the lawns were turfed but over some terrible building site rubbish so had to be relayed. Then the site had to be landscaped so far as borders, shrubs and flowers were concerned - then the Colleen wanted fruit trees - because they always had them at home. Boy am I sick of planting and digging, re-seeding and top dressing - have just finished lifting 300 daffs and cleaning up the borders so that the bedding plants can go down and the quantity of shrubs that we have bought in Newtonards but are not yet delivered.
This being the case I am off tomorrow to bash around Ardglass which I last played forty years ago. It will be my third outing since Christmas - AND WE CAME HERE TO RELAX. No wonder I got a sore knee with all the lifting, shovelling and humping bags of sand and planting compost. The physio said it would clear itself up but I had to be patient, now after four weeks I am finally properly mobile - YIPPEE....
Sorry to bore you all but I really am cheesed off with it all at the moment - I wish that the Conservatives would call an election and maybe we can all start again with a new government that has a majority and is not Tory or Labour because I really am fed up with the two party system which can't even produce a government that would blow a candle out.

Don't know about the Hedge Fund invested unless you mean Blackrock - they can certainly rock the boat with their actions - this is true of anything when you put enough of other peoples money behind it !!

When you think and believe that good sense will prevail - particularly after the wipe-out suffered by the Tories - think again. Do not underestimate the ability of the British voter to disappoint, making a bad situation worse because somebody told them a pack of lies wrapped up in a sunny uplands speech.
The enthusiasts here - all Orange - cannot wait for Brexit, completely failing to realise how dependent the UK is on foreign inward investment for the creation of jobs from which it harvests tax and National Insurance contributions.
When the Honda plant closes will it be the only carmaker to close? When jobs disappear in The City because they have moved to France and Germany or just gone bust.
How much Tax will the government collect then? How will this impact on the people of Northern Ireland who are largely maintained - some say 85% of the northern economy is directly supported by HMG. It is most noticeable in the towns where the Union Jack is flown from every chicken hut and pidgeon loft in places like Banbridge, Ballymena Portadown, Lisburn, Kilkeel and Carrickfergus.
The Taxes not coming in will impact directly on many people here but we'll soldier on, I have been promised a day off whilst the work continues here, spending all the money that we accessed whilst we were travelling. Once Brexit is out of the way the true picture will emerge and hopefully NORMAL SERVICE will resume.

Big changes are coming - eventually - I am now at the point where I expect that "Middle England" whatever that is, will turn out in numbers and really vote for something sensible. ERG and Farage are just disruptive, no sensible person expects them to do any better than "Our Dave and Osborne" that's if Farage is still around. Boris should not even come into the reckoning but these days who knows - the British voting public can be as dim as the DUP at times which is what got us into this mess in the first place.
There is a chance now for something sensible to emerge from the chaos - something like Comes the hour, Comes the man - but usually just when you expect good news they let you down again.
Living here is probably going to be more interesting politically, different voting system and no Assembly will have consequences for both of the main parties. The people are impatient for progress and the old tribal system is getting a bit worn as the economy here falters.

Good synopsis Martin - hard to argue with you - I find it hard to understand the headlong dash for the cliff edge which the DUP and most of the rabid conservatives are wishing for.
It is well understood here by the sensible minority (farmers) what this is going to mean for them "if it happens" - because of the lack of investment in food processing, they are dependent on the Republic when it comes to being able to sell their product either sheep or cattle or export it to the continent where France is a large consumer of Lamb.
As far as the second vote goes - this is becoming more and more of a reality as the ones who voted to leave are now looking to holiday in Blackpool or Bournemouth which just does not compare with Europe.
Anyone who has visited an Irish hotel will already understand the difference - unless it is the Amber Lodge in Gorey - we had a dismal stay there when we moved, breakfast under Cloches WHICH WAS COLD, made me wonder was I in Ireland at all.

Had a great day on The Links today - played The Ormeau which was very enjoyable on a gorgeous day - played like Rory with three birdies and two lost balls. Second game in six months and good to know that I still have most of my game.
Am clinging to that good thought of impending club membership, because looking at any kind of news and then this share is not good for my equilibrium with all these politicians running around making fools of themselves.
I am not yet ready to despair - I cling to the hope that either the waters or the clouds will part and his voice will say "enough of this nonsense."
Could somebody turn on the landing lights please - I think that I have just seen some flying pigs.

We've had a bit of fine weather here so have been busy top-dressing etc. - it has even been hard to stay up for Newsnight because I now wake so early since the clocks went on.

Well - you have to do something when the politicians waste so much time - at least my lawns are greening over, just need to plant a couple of fruit trees now then I can think about membership on the big lawns of Ardglass or Newcastle.

I don't think that your hope is misplaced - Brexit is slowly unraveling with the two parties trying to find a way forward that does not include either a General Election or a second referendum. Just like here the ground is shifting at last but not yet fast enough - 51% average turnout was happily enough to increase the share of the vote for Alliance who claim that they are not tribal?
Lisburn elected its first Sin Fein Councillor so anything is possible after that.
The European Elections will hopefully reinforce the message and prove to the DUP that they are journeying up a blind alley in search of their "BETTER DEAL" - they have also learned or should have, how unwise it was to jump into bed with the Conservatives - look what happened to Nick Clegg - now it's their turn.
I too am beginning to feel a bit more optimistic but am still a long way from being excited about the prospects for our share when the damage to the UK economy over the last ten years is factored in.
