The Independent this Sunday carried an article about all the Eejits in public life and complaining that they weren't only in Britain - anybody else see that article because it expressed my feelings so well - so glad that I am not the only one that thinks so.

Truly amazing - who could have imagined such a large scale delusion - Ken Clarke and Michael Hesseltine seem to be the only grown ups in the Conservative party. Somehow the idea has taken root that the EU will collapse without the UK being in it, this is one of the ravings that have become popular amongst the Orange fraternity and demonstrates how destructive "Group think" can be, when it is the hands of that happy little band from Ulster - GAWD HELP US!!!

Unless there is a second referendum, preceded by a real discussion which informs the electorate - "well the ones that give proper consideration to the likely consequence of their action" before voting - this matter will never be settled. As for the Lager Louts and their travelling hen's, it may only be sufficient to mention that some of their favourite holiday destinations will in future be only a happy memory, as the economy shrinks again - particularly if they work in super markets and distribution warehouses - not to mention phone banks.

And then there's my dividend cheque - really must chase that up, when I have finished painting my fence in time for the visitors who start this month.

God I'm sick of Brexit.

towards the cliff edge - Inward Investment, which this government loves - somebody else's money at risk - can soon become outward divestment which Ford have already indicated. Toshiba a while ago - now Hitachi have pulled the plug on their investment.
This is not project fear, but it is an indication of the confidence that investors now have in the UK, because politicians have lost the run of themselves, preferring to spend their time chasing headlines.

The issue price was pitched at 7.40 which was supposed to be "an informed judgement," I have to wait for the Colleen to stop shopping - so I can put the cheque book back in the freezer where it belongs.

Brett may not be avoidable or without consequence, the banks will always look after themselves, moving some of their operations offshore if their profits are endangered again, because it is unlikely that there anymore Fred Goodwin's or battery salesmen running building society's who will be allowed to oporate in the current climate - BUT THEN AGAIN !!!

Mrs May is going to talk to all party leaders - "as long as they will talk to her" - I wonder if she has offered the job of chief negotiator to Arlene, so she can look for that better deal which she would probably not recognise, because of her default position.

is exactly what is required - they have been getting away with murder for years - an election just might introduce some new blood with a will to address the problems. An election here has been threatened for a long time by various northern secretary's and needs to happen - under this present administration it is not very likely, we need a modern day Guy Fawkes in order to achieve change or a benevolent dictator.
I am not ready to despair yet, because I have the distraction of our new home which won't be completely to our liking until the spring, but the daffodils are coming up, which is more than can be said for our share.

where it is - failure of the vote and consequent collateral damage to the banks and the City already priced in - NOW IF BREXIT IS CANCELLED - or delayed for two years or an awful lot longer we can look for life. Failing that and a vote or a general election I see withdrawal of life support.

As those who just won't see - Jaguar Land Rover - Ford are the tip of the iceberg heading for the ship of state. In the past few months JLR have shed, or are going to, 9,500 jobs.
The high street was replaced with Malls and shopping centres plus hyper markets, which worked well when everybody had a NIL balance on their card - who can say that now ?
Now we are told that the future is On-Line, which makes sense from the point of holding all stock in the same place, less capital tied up and greater turnover of stock is achieved for a while - till the competition reacts.
I was told in Belfast today, by a fella who was sure that he knew what he was talking about, the future post Brexit lies with the Commonwealth and particularly with India and Africa WHO he told me are now the richest country's on earth.
We were in Marks at the time but, I just had to go outside to see if the landing lights had been turned on so that the flying pigs could land.
It has to be a virus that infected him !!

No golf today because we are still recovering from a very busy Christmas - first time our whole family has been together for years - our grandsons loved it but the star was my Colleen who produced wonderful food for the week.

I was expecting one or two Emails when I looked so thought that I would have a look on here too - and there was X4 "ya divil ya" and putting on weight as well - just goes to show - like me your not welcome up there yet but you will continue in my reflections after communion. I can honestly say that you have lifted my spirits with your news, I hope you enjoy your Christmas and that the children remember that grandpa has been ill.
Our two little men arrive on Christmas Eve, just after our Midnight Mass which is at six in the evening so we will have our Christmas supper after mass. Our eldest daughter their mother will celebrate her 40th on Boxing Day so our youngest daughter is baking her a special cake.
Moved into our new home and all our family and new son-in-law with us too - it seems a good time to open a bottle NO a Magnum of Moet which I was presented with about thirty years ago in recognition of my sales of Royal Grafton china. I have saved it for just such an occasion - I just hope it is drinkable, if it's not, we will have to rely on my favourite ,the dark stuff or Estrella to wash it down.

Mr Mac makes a very good argument for the politicians - to an extent - I agree with him so far as the 26 is concerned because most of the politicians "are grown ups," which used to be the case in the UK and of course there is proportional representation. The policies developed in the current UK political bubble may very well be excellent, but where is the delivery ? David Cameron was like a magician producing a new policy initiative almost every week ably assisted by that high class "paper boy" George Osborne.

Now they say that the high street is in trouble - what a surprise, when they carried on building shopping centres with free parking whilst turning town centres by comparison into no go areas with exorbitant parking charges and restricted parking, where you could find it. It is a wonder really that they lasted as long as they did when the majority of the properties were or are owned by insurance company's who impose penal rents upon tenants,where they don't find a tenant, properties are allowed to lie empty and decay for years.

Given that the national debt is now 1.8 times the size of the national economy, it is no surprise to me that businesses are slowing down under the weight of the debt that people are now required to work with. I would be very interested to see how well the flagship businesses in London prospered, if the business generated by tourists was reduced for an extended period. Brexit may very well produce such a problem.

In spite of the foregoing "Go raibh gach sonas ort an Nollaigh seo" - we are receiving the whole family this year which will leave my colleen and myself in need of a holiday when it is all over.

I note all the comments with regard to the selling price when it should have been realised that the conservative party, which used to pride itself on its loyalty and discipline when led by stronger personalities who at least had a vision, is now quite a reactionary party which also includes extreme Right Wingers as well as a few plummy voiced dummies.

Together they have collectively completely destroyed any notion that the UK is any more a mature and functioning democracy. It is more like a band of opportunists, whose only purpose is to enrich themselves at the tax payers expense whilst paying almost no regard to their electors who are well entitled to expect more honesty from them since they are the ones who pay them.

At least tonights vote is a chink of light and offers the hope that now the wrecking ball will be put aside - that wiser counsels will now be discovered and brought to the fore is at best a forlorn hope I'm afraid.

Unhappily, just like here, fresh elections will probably not bring fresh minds to the fore, because the mob that voted for Brexit in the first place, still have their votes and will still vote for whoever promises them Jam and Banana's.

Now if something was to go awry in Mr Paisleys constituency and that is ever more likely, politics here might become more sensible.

I am very tempted at this price to buy another 1,000 shares - if it drops any further after this vote I am going to put both feet in and wait for my new motor.

How can it have come to this - I know that I do not have great deal of faith in the current crop of politicians - but really what does this tell the world about "GREAT BRITAIN." Talk about a dogs breakfast and it barely describes it - these Brexit Fanatics really are the new breed of Kamikaze Pilots who really have lost the run of themselves - they have no thought at all beyond swinging the wrecking ball.
What is even funnier, the ones in Torquay who voted for Brexit and cannot wait for next March to come "so that britain can be great again" are the very people who fell over themselves to borrow in Europe for their hotels and businesses because they got a much better deal fixed term loans at an agreed rate which was also fixed. Our banks are going to that in our new tomorrow aren't they....
The Turkeys in the DUP have really voted for Christmas and Nigel Dodds with his insistence on Theresa securing a better deal has really burnt his boat. At least he will have secured his footnote in history, like Arlene.

So far as Ireland and unification is concerned my feeling is that the siege mentality of the "Orange Men" must be seen to be accommodated - at least in the initial stages. The first step - taken in partnership with the European Union but also supported by the UK, would be to establish regional assembly's in the four provinces with Donegal, Monaghan and Cavan being added in to the new entity.
New elections would need to take place of course in order to weaken the DUP rump and hard core. In this way it may well be possible to extend the NHS form of health treatment to the entire northern province so that the initial unrest and loud noises can be treated - as usual. There is undoubtedly a hooligan element attached to the Orange fraternity most notably in places like Ballymena, Portadown, and Carrickfergus where it is particularly and most noticeably entrenched along with Belfast.
That this needs to be tackled is without question - but I think that it would be most unfair to load ALL the burdens associated with re-unification on the remaining twenty three counties in the first instance. The process that will lead to full integration must be embarked upon with greater intelligence AND PATIENCE than has been seen in the UK's attempt at Brexit.
There are no quick fixes or short cuts - relationships and trust take time to bear fruit but - as the older generation die off, the numbers recruited to the Orange banner also shrink - leaving room for new relationships and opportunities.
So far as the twenty three are concerned it is essential that it continues to prosper providing the opportunity's that will tempt unionists to cross the border in increasing numbers as their confidence increases.
What we do with the noisy ones needs to be worked on, because they too have been failed by the educational system and society at large who have just let it happen without complaint.
