The need for oil will not disappear. We are still all buying things with plastics. Hospitals use huge amounts of disposable stringers, tubes as well as PPE.
I haven’t yet seen any electric Trucks , JCBs, tractors, and you still only see 2% cars and zero motor bikes. Electric charging points ( public) see less than 50 charges a year in most locations yet cost £40,000 each to provide!
And then there are planes. There aren’t many passengers flying but freight planes are up. New houses still don’t come with electric charging points and electric heating.... Because it doesn’t sell !
Public are quite for green power until you tell them their car will cost £15,000 more
Most plugin electric cars are company cars.
They are aiming for visitor numbers to match the Isle of Man, around 50,000 mainly arriving on motorbikes. Which is achievable as it’s cheaper to get to the IOW.
The IOM death rates and seriously injured is double the Uk average. Both racers and non racers and even spectators
And Mr Island Roads is worried about a few professional lorry drivers turning into a well pad!
Whilst Dunsfold on its own is not of national significance, There is a resistance to oil and gas ,by councils , that is preventing UK’s landward oil and gas exploreation moving at an acceptable pace.
The three stage planning with all its planning conditions and delays are throttling companies. That is affecting the economy.
The reply I have seen did not mention the “not fully public” or “technical failures”
They did mention “ not following protocols “
Basically the council legal officers are not letting the elected councillors off the hook. Ruth on drill or drop has it all wrong ( which is unlike Ruth) but she can only go on the info she was given?
Then Cllr penny rivers Re-tweeted a gleeful post showing a LSE graph where 25% was wiped off the share price... Now that is very bad behaviour. Other councils would ban her for being a councillor for up-to 5 years for that..
( @penandpaul ) I await the outcome and the 20th of Aug agenda...
If the council full against UKOG there are two options , planning inspectorate or getting the decision “called in” by the Secretary of State ..
I have been to many planning meetings and 3 planning inquiries. I fully expect the planning inspectorate to over turn this decision if it gets to that stage..
and I have just been reading a case in my council where they over turned a case and awarded costs be because council were unreasonable stating that something was out of caricature but did not specify the features on the Decision notice so the developer could not design a revised scheme that was compliant.
At the planning appeal the council have to propose the planning conditions and the planning inspector puts a red line through those that are .... unreasonable...
Might I ask Mr Investment how many barrels of oil that UJO have produced to date?
Nil?
I don’t care that you put the facts... it’s the mis information Annoys me. Just because you are here to ramp ODX and UJO. I don’t come over to cr@p on your board ... ...maybe I should.. but I don’t.
I believe HH has produced 5-600 tankers.
No one wants to give an update at SCC ;-)
It’s like an episode of Yes Minister..
Surrey planning and legal team on one side ( Sir Humphrey )
The Councillors on the other ( elected Minister Jim Hacker )
The words “protocols were not followed” have been mentioned
That means it’s going back to committee and councillors will be blamed
Half a sausage Bob?
Bob no jobs?
The Island with no dreams.
Where the kids who can , leave ....
Career options... grow tomatoes, grow garlic, tourism industry, make wind turbine blades, build yachts ( all of these industries need diesel or plastics )
I suppose you could work at the prison...
The planning committee members are the planning committee members.
Penny rivers mislead the committee.
Mr wedding barn said UKOGs site was 100 m from the boundary of his property
Penny Rivers then embellished that to say a bride would be married 50m from a flare.
Possibly she should be referred to the standards committee or clealy correct the facts to the next meeting?
The wedding barn I’d 4-500m from the flare through intermittent tree screening.
The flare is enclosed, UKOG offered toad camo netting to their perimeter fence.
Possibly the planning officer could have done more to inform the committee.
To my mind Penny Rivers has to Correct her statements to the last committee or be suspended from the planning committee.
It was also the traffic comments where she was also far off the truth . Ignoring the traffic speed evidence
Having watched Horse Hill and Broadford Bridge there is a core of specialists. However there is work that has gone local. Site preparation, fencing, stone surfacing, provision of lighting, waste water, hire equipment , electricians , plumbers , many small deliveries, fuel and drinking water...... also accommodation , off season occupation, ferry transport , laundry services, Food....
I would also say that the Eco Biosphere status is .... a joke... what proportion of the fuel ( oil gas electric ) is generated on the Isle of Wight ? Tiny amount of bio-gas, some Solar... The rest comes by pipe, tanker or cable from the mainland.
As do all the goods consumed on the Island... you cannot live off tomatoes and garlic.
The councillors voted , giving confusing reasons . But the head of planning issues a decision notice with the clear planning reasons for refusal. ( Unless the legal officers tell them it’s null and void :-) .... tick follows tock )
You can’t appeal a planning decision until the planning authority issue a planning decision notice with reasons for refusal.
Irrespective of what was said today by West Sussex.. or Broadford Bridge Action Group...
Loxley has not yet been formally refused.
I have made my points formally to the correct office.
Monday’s challenge is to find the Events company putting more than £500k through the books on companies house. Let alone £4m
And don’t get me started on the healthy eating and Sophie Sabbage the cancer whisperer... at £40-50 a ticket
Thank you ,
That’s not the only reason it should be void.
Presumably if it is void it will have to go back before Surrey committee next month.
But they will not like that ... they will all be on their summer Holliday’s ...
I bet they will try to delay till September
