2.25M shares is quite a bit for the market to digest. I expect no bounce today

I think we could all use a Santa rally this year. 2018 has been pretty rough for most investors , down here and lots of others. I am surprised this hasn't picked up a bit as in the autumn first quarter low volatility across markets was a factor in the reduced revenue, but since then we have had plenty to keep traders busy.

Shell is sensitive to pound / dollar movements as well. Oil goes up and down like all commodities, id say RIO is more volatile than Shell but I do hold both shares

Plus500 upped expectaions again due to increased activity and that has filtered through here today.

Since the recent announcement there has only been one day when any shares have been re-purchased 8155 shares on the 5th of November. Speculation about only buying below £13 appears not to be true as in recent days the price has dipped below and no buyback. Surely now is a good time to re purchase unless the BOD suddenly think the shares are over valued today? The buy back is part of shareholder returns and to put it bluntly we ain't getting it. If the company announces something and does not follow through on it they are losing credibility.

It reminds me of an episode of Yes Minister from the early 1980's. There was an episode called 'the smoke screen' catch it on youtube.

New CEO June Felix appointed today seems to have given us a boost. She seems to have a pretty impressive background in financial companies including ex president of verifone Europe.

Don't forget prudential holds a lot of assets and equities home and abroad so it always gets hit hard when there is a market downturn. Other insurers are also having a tough time.

The whole life assurance sector is getting battered, I've got legal and general as well and have also suffered similar losses. I think Brexit uncertainty is hurting financials right now. Look at yesterday the DOW +500 points and the FTSE didn't budge today

It seems to be one step forward two back at the moment. Huge fall today wiping out small gains, still no one ever made a dime by panicking :S

I agree Toff the UK 100 has been lousy on that time frame. Trouble is it has a lot of ponderous ex growth shares and heavy in resources stocks and little technology like amazon, apple etc that have powered US markets. Mind you some of my smaller company investment trusts have been absolutely battered today through no fault of their own.

I contacted IR earlier this week regarding buybacks. At the last AGM the resolution to buy back was past but with a significant vote against. With the large change in hands of shares since I wondered if the situation may have changed, I have not received a response so good luck.

10 cents at today's exchange is a piddling 7.6p per share not 13p. Don't spend it all at once!
