I don’t personally like buybacks anyway, there are so many shares in issue it’s like trying to drain loch Ness with a stirrup pump - time consuming and completely pointless. Ok i know in theory it raises the eps slightly with flat earnings but its tiny.
I don’t think selling out due to avoid dividend is what is happening here as the dividend is much smaller than the drops we have seen since the results last week. The reason for the notable rise on ex div last year was a rebound from severe drops caused by the profit and loss controversy omission from the results.
At least you have a local bank. My nearest Town now has no banks at all, like a lot of us in the sticks! Agree there is no quick fix here and things could get worse with the full effects of coronavirus not yet known.
It’s normal. I’ve been invested here for donkeys years and I think it has only gone up a couple of times on results day. Still not been a good investment though, it always seems to be jam tomorrow and tomorrow never comes!
Just thinking, remember the guy who made a youtube video apologising to his his clients who got wiped out by short selling natural gas when it was over 4$ in Nov 2018, just got his timing out a bit! Timing is everything.
Agreed. Looking back through my deals over the years, I bought more in 2015 for 157p and then again 2017 for 160p. Steady div yield but no growth in four years is pretty poor. If we get back to 170 it could be time to sell.
Didn’t realise that, thanks. Personally although buybacks negate the Israeli withholding tax issue, I have never found buybacks to do much to a share price.
Don’t believe the yield on this site, as that relates to the bigger dividends of last year. The div is set at 60% of the profits so as profits will be lower so will the yield
I noticed they are issuing up to 81 million new shares which is 10% of the shares in issue. The issue price is not yet fixed, or to us mortals not as yet known. This is what caused the largish fall yesterday.
No I don't have the time, maybe that's why they make these things so long! Price down quite heavy today and Plus500 half year results are tomorrow so it could be interesting.
Cannot see 500p next week as it has already come off around a pound from it's most recent high. Previously when the vix index is high plus generates good profits so I see no reason why this should change. Regarding the dividend for the first half it is unlikely to be large given the poor Q1 and improved Q2 yet it will be mush lower than last year.
