Reminds me of the great mining rout late 2015 early 2016 when Glencore and Anglo American were pushed to ridiculously low share prices then it turned. I think that was driven by fear induced capitulation selling. Lets it hope it turns around here

sixpence might be a bit small, maybe one of those old George V pennies with about 10p worth of copper in them

Having held for 10 years I just did some calcs and my dividend return cancels out all of my current losses and leaves me in profit. Recent £20 buyers are in more trouble.

If holding for many years you will have had M&G shares after the divestment. M&G has paid a hefty dividend to date which makes up for the lousy PRU offering. Whether that high dividend continues in the current world is anyone's guess but I hold there and will keep PRU for now, but it has to start performing big time and grow the share price or not a lot of point holding if it just bobs sideways.

Sadly lost the faith here and took a big loss selling the lot at 321p. All the proceeds went into IGG and now up 125p per share from when I bought there. I might be back in when it finds a bottom.

Would have thought although UK equity funds are having cash pulled out that will be going into overseas investment funds. As M&G offer worldwide products, I would expect it to balance or be slightly lower overall. Most UK financials have had a bad time lately so likely to be the B word affecting them

If holding already then I would personally wait until there is some positive momentum and better earnings releases. I hold here but wouldn't put another penny into it until I was confident of a firm bottom. Just picking a round number and hoping it doesn't go lower has never worked out for me in the past, but you might get lucky. I have learned the hard way don't throw good money after bad.

I like your strategy zac0_4. FTSE has been appalling, look at today gently up then the yanks start selling tech stocks so that automatically means all of our dogs in the FTSE have to go down as well like a subservient lap dog. Makes you wonder why invest in shares at all really when you can get such returns if you pick the right global funds. We have a third rate stock market for a third rate country, gone nowhere in decades

Theres no market makers trashing shell. The whole ftse is getting trashed right now, companies which have nothing to do with the oil business. I suspect the weak dollar is hurting oilers priced in pounds but US oilers share prices are in dollars.

Trouble is the US dollar is slowly being turned into toilet paper which is some of the reason for the rise in oil and other commodities. When converted back into British pounds we are not getting the benefit

When I looked into this in the past I don't think you can claim it all back, just a reduction as a non Israeli resident to 15% I have never bothered as it seemed a major faff.

I didn’t do anything, this relates to the temporary tax reduction from 25 to 20% I think

Just checked my account and I have had my payment regarding the reduced WHT on the last dividend that was just paid. Nice little bonus and didn't expect it so soon.

Ex div on thursday so maybe buybacks will start in earnest then, although they did buy a few a day after the results which goes against that theory. In any case they have committed to do it as part of our payback so it will come in time.

Yes the last update was not particularly inspiring. Maybe CMC is a better bet going forward now? Peter Cruddas has certainly turned it around there after years declines. Of course whether is continues is anyone's guess.

Yes. sold out here at 79p ! back in 2015. Took big losses but later put what was left into RIO around £18-19 and that has doubled plus incredible dividends over the last 5 years.

Governments buying their own bonds forces the yield down, which is why They have been dropping or to near zero or negative for years. To compensate L&G may have to look into riskier corporate bonds or shares to get a better return.
