Gold and silver investments surge at Royal Mint...

More investors are pouring money into gold and silver as people opt for “safe haven” investments to boost their savings amid the cost-of-living crisis, the Royal Mint has said.

The company said investors could be turning to precious metals as an alternative to high-street savings rates and disappointing returns on stocks and shares investments.

It reported a 17pc increase in first-time precious metal investors during the first half of 2023 compared to last year.

The volume of investments in gold jumped by a 10th and investments in silver rose by 16pc year-on-year over the same period, it revealed.

The Royal Mint, which is the official maker of British coins in the UK, said that the uplift was distributed across all age groups, indicating that the commodities have mainstream investment appeal.

Andrew Dickey, the Royal Mint’s director of precious metals, said: “As high street savings rates and returns on the stock market remain low the pendulum has swung towards investments with the potential to offer better returns.”

o 2019WTD001:

▪ 21.7m @ 3.3g/t Au from 9.3m, including 0 2.2m @ 12.0g/t Au from 10.8m

o 2019WTD002:

▪ 11.7m @ 2.8g/t Au from 115m

• The diamond drill program will test highly prospective orogenic-style gold mineralisation at Warrentinna which is defined by historical mine-workings over a largely untested 6km-long corridor with potential for near-surface gold resources

• Drilling at Warrentinna is the first in a series of drill programs that will test high-priority exploration targets across the Company’s regional exploration projects in Tasmania.

The Warrentinna Project (EL30/2004) is located in north-east Tasmania, 40km northwest of F-l-y-n-n’s Golden Ridge Project. The tenement was recently acquired from Greatland Gold plc....

Exactly, and, IMHO, I can't think of a better BOD than ours right now, in terms of specialists in multiple disciplines, including mining, geology, finance, M&A's, etc., to handle all of them efficiently & effectively.

IMHO, this is the biggest non-Havieron positive news story in recent months! Great news!

“This LAA provides Greatland with exploration access to the highly prospective Ernest Giles tenements,” Day said.

Let's be quite honest here, loftmonkey57 is a habitual de-ramping, alleged, shareholder, doom monger, and it's pretty pointless even attempting to discuss anything even remotely positive with him/her/undecided! It goes in one ear, and out the other.

He/she/undecided has an agenda, and that agenda has to be the most illogical I've ever seen in my 50+ years of investing, for someone alleged to be a shareholder in any company!

In all of this recent discussion, I personally just go back to Callum Baxter's view, in that essentially whatever happens it would be a win-win for us. Alongside that, it's very clear, and backed up by Shaun Day yesterday, that we have one of the best BOD's in the Australian mining industry to take on any of the options too!

"Now if Newmont want to hang onto Telfer and the Paterson assets, that's fantastic. And potentially they'd want to buy Greatland’s or Greatland’s portion of Havieron in that process. So that's a win for Greatland. Alternatively, if Newmont don't want to pursue the Paterson assets, and that's an unlikely scenario, but nonetheless I'd say Greatland would throw its hat in the ring to try and purchase those assets.

Well, a scenario is that Greenland would purchase those assets from Newmont, and Telfer would become a central processing hub for Greatland and it would make Greatland a mid-tier gold and copper producer. So, a much larger entity, which is again a win for Greatland.

So really for Greenland, the scenario at the moment is win win."
