Orla Mining (OLA.TO), opens new tab will buy the Musselwhite Gold Mine in Ontario from Newmont (NEM.N), opens new tab in a deal valued at $850 million that will help more than double its production of the precious metal, the Canadian miner said on Monday.

The deal will enable Newmont to generate up to $2.9 billion in gross proceeds from non-core divestitures. The world's largest gold miner had set a target of more than $2 billion in such sales following its $17 billion purchase of Newcrest.

So, AGM 18th December, which is relatively late in December compared to previous AGM's, so should have completion by then!

I'm sure that Shaun Day would like to have completion prior to the company AGM, the date of which I'd expect we'd probably get this week.

Agree 100% Redirons! As I posted on another thread, it would be stupid, and disingenuous, to make such a 'firm' statement on date, which isn't really necessary, as we've already been told Q4 2024, unless both Greatland & Newmont were pretty damn sure it will happen then. I would even go further to say that, because of this update, it's already concluded, in all but exactly when to release to the market. My best guess would be just before the GGP AGM.

We should be receiving a notice of the AGM very soon now. Last year it was on the 6th December, as it was in 2022. In 2021 it was on the 14th December. I'll bet Shaun Day would like to have confirmation of the completion just before.

Hi Bamps, I appreciate it's just nomenclature, but ,personally, I wouldn't say that anything is being held up, unless it delays the Q4 2024 timeframe which both Shaun Day & Tom Palmer are set on. Sure, it's one factor, but I'd like to believe that it's all been factored in to their thinking. Anyway, just my view.

Tom, just to add that Newcrest Mining Limited is still a subsidiary of Newmont Mining Corporation (It's Parent company), so it's just a legal thing, I guess, in maintaining the original submission company in the EPA legislation.
