Bigbaggerhungry think "Big" £26 is only my starting point. I'm looking a dividend of £4.50p in several years time. LOL.
GLA
£26 though I would settle for £25.50p
GLA
Lunanera that's a excellent comprehensive and balanced well thought out post. I wholeheartedly agree with everything except the time frame for burford to regain market confidence and accompanying reasonable share price. in my book the earnings will do the talking, and these could be very substantial in the next couple of years, there's actually every possibility that the earnings could go way beyond any market estimates, it's even possible that burford could win a billion dollars in a lawsuit win, and that's the beauty of this share, I would like burford to hold onto as much money as possible to give investors confidence and a backbone to the company,
Bigbaggerhungry a hour to buy them shares, that is strange, but this game can be stranger than fiction.
GLA , DYOR, always buy / sell with extreme caution and due diligence.
50% of my total investment in Burford is now profit, so that should create a decent buffer to any Lumpy earnings in the future, normally I would expect a lumpy earnings forecast , though because of this recession and the huge increase in litigation lawsuits I’m now only expecting a substantial increase in future earnings over the next several years, a sophisticated investor would look at the PE, + PB or all the other terminologies used for that more accurate reading of a company’s financial status. If you’re really looking at the long term merits of Burford, then this years gyrations of our share price mean very little.
the futures bright , the futures litigation funding.
GLA
Or a absolute bargain if you take a longer term view,
GLA
GG I agree, though the average ordinary investor understands the PE much quicker, You will find this in investors chronicle and most tabloid papers , that’s the first thing I look for, then everything else after that, so I agree with what your stating, though in everyday life it’s the PE that catches your eye first.

Add in a litigation funder for the case against Samsung and this share could really fly, if a litigation funder takes on this case I assure you they would have done there homework on this case and only take it if the experts in infringement Law says Samsung are in the wrong, the th red takes the financial risk and nanoco gets probably 67% of the settlement. Nanoco have already says these discussions are at a advanced stage, so it seems the funders and experts agree that Samsung has infringed
nanoco's patents. This could be a substantial Lawsuit win in a few years time. Excellent potential here.
GLA
Mathurin thank you kindly for that endorsement,
I have been looking at numerous investors advice from the usa, around what to buy and sell during this coming recession, and they all say the same thing, but recessionary proof shares, ones that can earn money and even increase earnings during any recessions, and burford fitted that bill perfectly, the American investors will either snap up our shares of slowly buy away at our shares, it won't take to long before they see the huge earnings this year and next, but the massive earnings will come the following years , 2/3/4/5 our earnings should explode, that's why there's a scramble to raise money for litigation funding in the usa, the opportunities are early of incredible proportions, there is numerous billions of dollars of Litigation lawsuits to win here. I stand by what I've stated before, that burford will ask for and get hundreds if not billions of more money to invest in litigation funding, and that means numerous hundreds of millions of profit for burford in the future.
I just can't wait to see how much burford will make form the Volkswagen funding case , my guess and only a guess is around $75 million dollars profit, it's not clear yet to our percentage of that win, but if we are putting up $30 million dollars then I would at least expect a a near tripling of our funding money, this could very well be much higher, I just don't know.
And also I would expect many others in Germany to now join that class action , I read the average private settlement figure was €17500, so it maybe safe to take that figure and multiply that by the number of cases to get a reasonable accurate figure,
And then find out our win percentage, and take it from there, though I guess most people already know that. If anyone knows our exact win percentage I would be very grateful . though very often these can be kept as a contractual secret.
The future is very bright for burford, when the shares catch up with its incredible potential then the shares should hit £8.20p + in just inside a year or so.
DYOR, always buy/ sell with extreme due diligence and care. GLA
Institutional sellers need to turn X amount of their shares into cash, they gets there orders and that's it, they need a certain percentage of there portfolio in cash during a recession, I can understand that, I'm no different.
Just relax and believe that burford will make hundreds of millions during this recession, that's the history of Litigation funding during any recessions. It's actually a fantastic opportunity to take advantage of the institutional need to turn shares into cash.
I know it doesn't look like that right now, this kind of selling makes investors nervous and despondent, Market makers will enjoy running burfords shares up and down at great speed to make more money, a legacy from the muddy waters attacks.
I'm relaxed about this retreat, as I know the future earnings will blast any doubts about burford away, look to the future not to the daily swings of burfords shares, I'm 100% confident in burford getting to at the very least 10 times PE. And making 3/4/5 hundred million $£ per year for its investors.
GLA
Great find 1MSN , Though I'm not paying for that report, LOL, I already know this market is about to grow exponentially, this recession will fuel and grow the desperate need for litigation funding, burford will have to get substantial amounts of more funding money from the sovereign wealth fund, we can again keep 60% of the win from that extra money. Forget about the short term gyrations of burfords share price, the serious upward movement's in our share price is yet to come in the next few months and years, I honestly could see burford at £26 in 2/3 years. That's why today's SP gyrations was a absolute JOKE.
GLA
Also worth remembering, burfords profit from that German / Volkswagen case, someone somewhere will do the number crunching on that win, and it should be a significant settlement win for burford. That's virtually money in the bank now, the financial Times , investors chronicle, practically all the leading papers will mention our payout, as well as all the online forums, Yahoo finance, you name it , it will be there, now if that doesn't wet the appetite of American investors for our shares nothing will, and then We have the coronavirus litigation propositions, there is already class actions against Hiscox insurance in the uk , and in my eyes Hiscox is going to loose here, I've seen these policies and they are in my humble opinion definitely trying to get out of paying there customers, you also have this in America, as that means mega buck's in settlements.
There's loads to look forward to, but I just can't wait to find out how much profit we will get from the Volkswagen lawsuits.
Keep a eye out for any respectable estimates.
GLA
I simply don't believe now this is to just down to chartist, this is not normal share movements, there has to be some kind of bear raids going on here. I'm my humble opinion profiteers should have pulled it back 20p or so from £5 , this pull back is orchestrated in some way. A terrible pity , but anything can happen in this old game, I genuinely was genuinely expecting it to slowly March up to £6 or so in the short term. It's sad to see this happen to a company that has so much potential to earn hundreds of millions for investors.
GLA
Profit takers and chartist playing by a chart, they are in control of our share price. They will play this by that, and probably also
Push burford ahead at the right time if the charts say so. Cruel in know,
GLA
Time-will-tell that’s a excellent sensibly and level headed post sir, I’m personally ready to let the share price do the talking, as this sector is ready to explode and change litigation for the better,
I myself was recently and unexpectedly Offered litigation funding for a case I had, though it seems the other side will settle up now , and outside of any court proceedings. Now in saying that my lawyer has worked all over the world, and he’s specialists knowledge around litigation funding, though that will change, so that litigation funding is commonly or widely used by every law firm, big or small, to massively speed up the whole process of litigation, it’s just another great choice for litigation clients. and to be honest I was extremely happy to have been offered this choice at the time, I actually says yes instantly when I was offered it.
I’m 100% confident that it will be a permanent fixture or choice in ordinary everyday litigation cases very soon, and that means a huge increase in litigation funders workloads, it’s not just big cases, mine is only about £60k .
The future is extremely bright for Burfords workload.
Please DYOR, GLA
There are several litigation funders raising hundreds of millions to take a small slice of the tsunami of Litigation work coming out of this recession, they will all make serious money, that's a certainty going on previous recessions and workloads,
And yet we have Burford sitting on a 6+times PE, it's absolutely ridiculous , even at a 10 times PE it would be cheap, I would expect a 6 times PE if muddy waters attack was yesterday, when will the .net same up to the huge potential earnings that should come from burford, we have billions available and employed in litigation funding, absolutely no one to date can touch burford and the size of funding they provide, our current / Volkswagen and future wins will bring burford to the attention of everyone in investing, and that should eventually gain a premium PE to our competitors. Some of these case can bring in hundreds of millions of pounds / dollars in just one single case, that's the beauty of this company, you just never know what spectacular payout is coming our way.
If others are raising hundreds of millions to try to take a small slice from this market, it tells you something, and that is that a fortune can be made here, and burford has billions to monetise a very big slice of this workload. Though the very best profits are yet to come. I wouldn't at all be surprised if burford was making £$ 500 million a year in just a few years. Now what will the PE be by then ? Probably 14 times PE. Or much higher.
Never ever buy / sell on anyone's hype or enthusiasm, please DYOR, and only buy/ sell after due diligence and careful consideration. GLA.
Because their business model could collapse very quickly if the high street footfall drops to much, and everything indicates a football drop, there will be a bloodbath on the high street if shoppers don't return in normal numbers, large numbers of people will loose there jobs , large numbers of people will be more careful with their money, it's just not a good combination of very possible outcomes, if I'm wrong card factory could be a great risky investment, though to risky for me, and believe me I take big risk. It just seems obvious to me they may get into trouble and very quickly, a lot of companies March on when they know things look terminal for making a profit.
GLA
That was a excellent writeup, though I don't agree with their suggestion that their business model was best , it doesn't matter who's supplying the litigation funding as long as it's backed up by good experienced Lawyers and vast sums of money, it's basically a bet that your lawyers can identify a winning lawsuit case. Burford has plenty of them in abundance. We also have billions of funding to call on, that's why we are the number one stop for any case , big or small. I suspect we are about to get much bigger during this recession.
GLA
Another thing to take note off, Burfords shares are increasing with no news whatsoever from the company, when we get some good news the shares should jump significantly, add in a USA listing and American investors looking for recession proof companies, and we should get to £8.20p very comfortably, but only in my humble opinion,
Always buy/ sell with extreme care and due diligence at all Times.
