On the last day of my SEE odyssey, I met one of "our chaps" who is working with the current and next generation of remotely piloted vehicles some of which are flown from over there. I explained some of what his Aussie mates were implementing. Of course he wouldn't be drawn into detail, but that is probably something that the techies would be looking at.

Home now and the sight of a FreshLinc truck has put a smile back on my tired face

Seeing, I don't want to pour cold water on this, Volvo Group is massive, but it is trucks and buses and large vehicles , but it is not Geely's Volvo cars.

Just came back to the hotel in a Lyft, unfortunately it wasn't an Aptiv. Although, it was supposed to be a quiet Thursday night. At close to midnight you need to be a hustler to fight through the crowds of Uber abd Lyft vehicles as they merged into one lane. So probably better to still have a human in charge for now.

Quick update, the VW must have a new engine to test since I kept meeting it pulling a U-haul trailer while driving around Death Valley. Now in Vegas, and just saw one of the Aptiv AV taxis on the Strip, but traffic too heavy to get close-but you can't miss those orange wheels! Their Lidars are very understated for such a bling town

I did see another US SUV testing but there was duct tape allover the badges on the steering wheel and to much tinting to see much else

Now the road trip has reached Death Valley. At Stovepipe Wells there are some cars doing their hot weather testing. (48 C today) There are 4 Hyundia/kia cars but with plenty of camouflage especially the dashboard. Must be ashamed to have SM on board. There is also a VW SUV with new nose and tail, but inside the dash board is unchanged so no SEE there yet.

Been driving about in SF and the bay area for a week now. Unfortunately, not seen any AVs since my original lucky spell

Think where we will appear first. Premium cars, most will be business cards leased on 3 year terms. Downturn will have minimal effect on those compared to the mass market cars where many buyers can hold out another year or two.

If the market shrinks 10%, there will be joblisses, but not for us we will probably only lose half that.in sales. Maybe it will be more of an issue when we are in most models of the businesses we win, but we will still be in fast more than the 25% that Men told us.

There is a slow down - it is the months that we are currently waiting for our RMSs to finally arrive. It cost Ken his job.

The sales are coming, the auto-makers can't put us off indefinitely. They need a churn of new features to make us want this years model, then to yearn for the next. Add 'mandatory' on top of that and what are you worried about.

This is us paddling in the shallows only or toes are wet, but there is a tsunami coming. It doesn't matter to me if it is 10 feet or 100.I am going to very wet. And yes time seems to slow down as it gets closer.

I'm in SF doing some research (don't tell the family) I've seen a few Waymos but I was driving so couldn't see inside. Been close to some Zoox nice paint job, but all those lidars would make using the roof rack quite tricky. I will report back if I can get some SEE evidence

From the ****pit of the future site - they don't mention DMS, it is more about the seat and its cocoon with health and comfort.

The patent does check the alertness of the driver - before passing control back before leaving autonomous driving mode, but they are talking about Level 4, not 2-3

I don't think this is competition for us just now - and if they do get anywhere it will be in Japan for comfort not safety

Not got much time so just a brief glance at the pictures.
Fig 8 has 2 visible light and 2 IR cameras, all in a very small space which is supposed to be near the steering column - so similar to our SC implementation, but with 4 cameras. They won't get much parallax difference from this confined location. So either this was a short sighted decision, or it was specifically designed to fit in the gaps left by other patents!

They missed the obvious one - make DMS mandatory!

I'm sure this diagram is worth a few more pennies on the share price on its own. Seeing Machines are serious and established. They have the data and they know what to do with it!
