I might be wrong, but I think that the bitterness between the parties is just due to a wider spread in the potential bid-offer price. If SOLG had been willing to sell, say around £1, BHP would have probably just taken us.
IMHO NM has been going for a much higher payout, rightly so in light of the company he has been trying to build, and BHP have not deemed it palatable to pay north of £2 unless forced to do it.
A central issue with negotiations is when the ask is too distant from the bid, parties stay on their positions and so the dirty games start until one of them has to fold. My old company was taken over this way and in hindsight you would wish that people just were more willing to just negotiate fairly, instead of always trying to have their cake and eat it.

I concur, and I think it's quite obvious we all need to keep those guys exactly where they are.

To be honest, at the time I interpreted "accordingly" as in "depending on what the PFS report says", not that the board receiving the report would automatically translate into notifying the market.
I am one of the guilty parties here, but sometime we project too much of what we want onto their words, which are often carefully chosen to tell while not saying anything conclusive.

By the tone of your comment Monte, you haven't made any money.
Not that I am happy of course, I wished everyone made money.
But the point here is that understanding waves is what helps people see the effect of collective price action, the inflection points, and trade the lows and the highs.
Not that different in principle from a sailor looking at sea waves and deciding how to steer the boat in the most efficient way. The sailor does not control the form, size and direction of the wave, but he/she/them can at least try not to sink.

I join in paying respect to CB and his family for this tragic loss, indeed unexpected and most unwelcome given his age.
Some of us are older than CB was, his passing is a reminder of our fragility and the relative irrelevance of our daily grind.
Today is a day of mourning and silent respect.
Soon the market will need a second statement though, to advise investors about the future direction and how CB's dream at ECR will be realized.

My calculation:
(0.07*2.20492*14*1000000000*0.85/1.366)/(2.398941433*10000000)=56
You can simplify the zeros of course.
2.20462 is the pound to kg conversion, 14 is the 14 mln Tonnes of CuEq in the existing official estimate, 0.85 is SOLG's share, 1.366 is the current GBPUSD exchange rate, 2.39... is the number of SOLG shares.

Interestingly, if I got that right, Brook mentioned copper-related M&A activity averaging $ 0.07/P CuEq, which would correspond to a SOLG share price of around 55.3p.
It might not be the £1+ price, but still over 100% of where we are now.

Bubble, which weekend? We have been in SOLG for far too many weekends already!

I asked Warren Irving whether a bid from a major would arrive before the Alpala PFS. We occasionally discuss it here and tend to think that the PFS may be the line in the sand beyond which the buyers will finally open up their wallets.
But Warren's very clear view (as usual) is that the majors don't care about a Junior's PFS, they will base their views on their own models, so the potential bids are not related to the "official" PFS.
So I suppose the real questions are:
1) Do BHP and Newcrest and everyone other interested majors have access to the raw information to feed their own models or is SOLG keeping that close to their chest;
2) If instead the majors have the relevant information, why haven't they bid yet? Are they all waiting to see who makes the first move?

Well, IMHO, and assuming his best intentions, RK1 has simply not done a good PR exercise here.
If there was market sensitive information given to individuals or groups but not to the public, SOLG would be in breach or rules.
The hint that non shareable information was given is improper, one should either keep that to him/herself or provide full disclosure. After endless messages back and forth we ended up talking about interpretations, not facts.
I have been exchanging messages with NM and the rest of SOLG in the past, and to be honest I think that the RNSs remain the only somewhat reliable source of "market sensitive" information.
The elephant in the room topic we all try to guess will never be discussed in the open, and obviously it's a big elephant in a delicate room or we would not be where we are; ultimately we are not in any position to make informed decisions today than we were in the last few years, no matter how many opinions we post here. We are just passengers.

For transparency, I just got a response from Fawzi to a question I asked about market sensitive information being disclosed to individual investors, and his actual answer is:
"No market sensitive information is shared on any calls with the Company, I hope this is clear."

More interestingly, I also asked a more direct and abrasive question about NM's real position in the company given his role in the Swiss entity, and how that seems to affects the CEO selection and current investor sentiment, and that's where you can tell that I hit a nerve because he literally just switched to corporate lingo and skipped a real answer altogether, also not responded to my second and more insistent request.
Something is rotten in the state of Denmark......
