My best wishes and positive vibes to you both, and anyone else suffering from the big C.
I have an incurable blood cancer that also caused a secondary cancer. At the time of diagnosis, and if I didn't take up treatment, I was given 12-months to live.
Luckily, because of relatively young age, good health and fitness, I was offered and took everything that medical science could throw at me .
15-months later I am now in remission. and with every chance (god willing/inshallah) of seeing my kids through university and beyond.
Point being, don't give up hope, stay fit, exercise, eat well, take punishing therapies, keep fighting.
Radiotherapy, chemotherapy, stem cell transfer.....dealing with all that was less painful than holding and trading EUA!!!! Oh, and always maintain a sense of humour :-) !!

Spreadbet is still active with IG, even on 100% margin. ....

Oh well, my £9.36 didnt play out on 1st Feb, but if I get a second lucky dip, put me down for 8th March. Same price.

Just a quick reminder for all those spread betting with IG (might be the same with other platforms) that from 3pm today you need to have enough equity in your account to cover 100% margin on EUA (and a loaf of other shares).

re IG closing market to new positions, there is a definitive list that is available to their clients. Ive done my compare and contrast, and luckily only one share, this bad boy, falls in to the 100% margin category.

For all fellow IG spreadbetters, would be sweet justice for the retail investor if THE RNS landed before Friday ....

And the point re share dealing, trading or investing is very valid (if you want to make money).
Investment success will likely come from understanding what some would label as manipulation that happens within the financial markets. Would I buy when all the media are telling me that the stock market is on a bull run.... ? When looking at the charts at that particular time would indicate that shares had in fact been on a strong bull run for many years and that some PE ratios were now off the scale ???
The “sheep” herd of retail investors now pile in because they read it in the papers , saw it on TV, while the big boys (whoever they may be) off load their holdings after a hefty % gain, and then, what a surprise, the stock market crashes, mr joe-public is left holding the hot potato, sells in desperation, and then then the big boys buy back in, share price rises - rinse and repeat...
But that is just a view point that some people hold. Everyone has to make their own mind up how the markets work . Good luck with you investments.

Who is a “COVID denier?”
Just to be clear I didn’t ever deny the existence of covid so I assume you must be referring to someone else.
Also, it appears to be a default reaction by many people who blindly agree with every thing that is fed to them by mainstream media (which is controlled by OFCOM - see earlier reference), and the govt, that there is no debate, in effect shutting down anyone that questions what they are “told”, and often people who do question are immediately labelled as conspiracy theorists or worse. Hardly a healthy environment for open debate.
What be frightened of debate?

And as COVID infection rates drop off the edge of a cliff, is it really because the over 70s have been vaccinated ? We are told that vaccination does not stop a vaccinated person carrying the virus, s o that can't be it. Or is it down to lockdown measures?
I work internationally and have regular contact with associates all over the world, including the US, India, Brazil and Sweden... I hear first hand (not filtered by restricted media - see reference to OFCOM) about how things are playing out in other countries. Based on that evidence, only a fool would NOT question the "party line" in the UK. I am not a sheep in any respect, be it COVID or investing. The sheep would appear to be the manipulated ones.

Even "O" level biology teaches you that viruses will always mutate, and generally they become weaker in potency as they do. Yes , maybe more virulent, but less potent. And that's the nub of the matter. Also, its worth checking out the Gompertz curve in relation to the natural life cycle of a disease. I am not offering an opinion, just offering a different view point to the "party line" which is rammed down our throats...

Ironically you are quoting the BBC that are subject to the OFCOM rules...

The reason the press or any other media is tip toeing around the official government messaging and advice is that OFCOM introduced new conditions which can take away a broadcasters license if they contradict the government guidelines. However you do interpret the rules, the bottom line is that it the OFCOM rules could be interpreted as in effect causing censorship and silencing opinions that contradict the official line.

The debate about statistics is very significant - we should, IMO, be looking at excess deaths compared to say the last 10 years. If you do that, it provides some very interesting insight....

Yesterday, 4d was tradeable, now its closed to new "open" orders.
Frustrating as heck.
It's not necessarily a sign that price is about to sky rocket (I have direct experience of this) and is apparently due to the platform providers "broker margin requirements" .....
Anyone else spread-betting on a different platform that can still open new trades?

As it is IG put bitcoin in to its "Professional Traders Only" category due to the high risks involved. If UK regulators go further than just an advisory not to invest, then this could have a significant impact on Crypto and any company associated with it.
