The latest Investing Matters Podcast episode with London Stock Exchange Group's Chris Mayo has just been released. Listen here.
@Argobull
"Chuz, I obviously hold a different opinion to yours."
Yes and believe it or not I fully respect that along with your opinion being equally as valid as my own thoughts. At the end of the day we just don't know what's going to happen or the ramifications whether they be positive or negative.
All just opinion and if everyone just had the same opinion as me all of the time there would be no point posting.
I'm only here to chew the fat in between doing some dull real life work. I'm actually not here to annoy folk that's just a by product of having opinions.
"How on earth could that be seen as disaster? The 17 series have been horribly unreliable due to heat issues that get solved by immersion. On top of that you get cheaper electricity, extra hash rate, consolidated staff, freed up funds for re-investment."
The 17s are rubbish.
Ita a brand new 200mw immersion facility which costs close to 100million to build, the company listed on the nasdaq to raise the funds for it. It is expected to be as good as it can get.
If we fill it full of half burnt out s17's the world should rightfully laugh at us. If we move some machines around and do not actually buy more the world should rightfully ask what was the point (other than a reduction in electricity costs which will be spend on promo videos and swimming pools).
The market doesn't seem to care if your power cost is 1ceny less than your competitors it seems to care about how many btc can you mine a month.
If the plan ends up like you suggest then, in my opinion the share price will collapse and a new management team will have to be brought in or it will just be bought out.
Time will tell
@argobull
"Yes we currently have about 100MW worth of machines in our 1.6 EH. I calculate around 75MW's worth (Quebec plus our Core Scientific hosted S19's). When you overclock, it draws increased power (roughly in line with machine specs), so if they were overclocked as per what I wrote before (25-50), then this would fill 100MW and increase from 1.6 to 2.2ish."
In all seriousness if that is the game plan I do not think the market will take it well. Just moving some machines around and a bit of overclocking (especially since it will be in trial stage) would be pretty disaterous, the downtime of moving machines and getting them set up probably wouldn't be worth the electric price difference and then to not really increase hashrate with the 100/200mw of power except the 20k s19s would be a monumental disappointment.. I'd sell what I have left immediately.
@Hexam
"AB - that's worrying as the original estimate was $80m."
There were a couple of you tubers that believed the costs had over ran, I'm not sure where they got thier data from though. One of the guys was a quantity surveyor and was expecting a significant shift from budget due to raw matetial costs. Materials went up atleast 25% during the build period but again I don't know the effect if any it had.
@flowerpot
"I'm not going to dare ask how much this movie will cost :)"
Haha a lot cheaper than the promos, I'd do it on my phone Blair Witch style and the scripting can be ad lib - mocumentuaty movie thing.
I would even include K3V but he would just be represented by a green box with ear defenders on. Theduke would be that loads'a money guy from Harry Enfield... The possibilities are endless ha
"One claims he is short on ARB, ones not invested, one claims to be invested but hates the world, one has issues with disabled people and so on and so on. Little group of odd pals."
Haha, that actually made me chuckle.. It reminds me of the film "mystery men".. Just a random selection of misfits haha.
Maybe we could make a movie out of it...and yes I know I'm probably included in that group, still funny though.
@Argobull
"Chuz why do you care you don't even own any Argo?"
Again a false statement, I used to be 100% invested in Argo which obviously didn't work out well for me but now I have a lot less.. I've said this loads of times so statements like I'm not invested just irk me as they are just a lie.
I have also said that when the funding is sorted out I expect the share price to fall around 20%, at that point I will buy in heavily.
I've been pretty consistent with what I've said.
@Jamsey
"I wish Argo would make two videos like this every week. 52 x 2 x £6.5k = £676k bargain!"
Everyones different I suppose.. That 6.5k was for literally someone talking into a camera... I reckon its between 15-20k for each of those videos.
That would make two a week around a million dollars.
Or if we wan tto look at it a differnt way, the same as selling 24 btc.
I just don't like the BS of it all, videos and swimming pools when they should be buying rigs
@mrwhite
"Do you two have to complain about everything.
Lets forget about everything going to plan any worry about the price of the video -really !"
Sometimes yes... If they had not of produced a professional promo video (not 1 but many) would be off plan? Have the videos been Instrumental in keeping us plan.
Is 100k OK to spend on the videos combined, 200k OK?
Producing the video doesn't get it done quicker.. Uploading photos on the argo website would communicate its progress..
How many btc will be sold to pay for these promo videos?
"$1K per video for the update stuff....which in an investor relations budget is tiny."
Ive just done a quote online for promo video of recoding someone just talking into the camera where the team help write the script and the price was $6500 for 3 mins of video.
Don't think $1k is going to cut it.
@seethreeIPO
"$1K per video for the update stuff....which in an investor relations budget is tiny."
If it's only around $1k per video then I have no issue at all with its production, I would be amazed if its any where near that, maybe things are differnt in the states but when I've had things like this done in the past without drone footage or quite so good editing then I've had to pay 10 x that amount and that was a few years back.
Id love to know how much these videos costs, the slow mo walking and aerial footage.. Next stop Hollywood.
Yes I know damned if you do damned if you don't but please just buy some rigs and stop with swimming pools and promo videos
Why is it that the share price drops when the funds buy and seems to go up when they sell.
It's a pattern that's been established for ages now.. Is it that the share price drops so they buy and when it rises they sell into it.
Or is there just some other wierd mechanism that can lower the price for the buys?
"that is long way away from the 60p you missed out on."
Im not sure I even saw it go to 60p, tbh that is pretty low. I had a bit of time away from the board so must of happened at that point, although I've also been a bit done in by covid so I might of saw it and just had brain fog.
But nah, not bitter at all, believe it or not I want this share to sky rocket and not sit in its own filth.
Hmm I was just eating a sandwich and thought I'd take a look at what extra nonsense has been posted but what happend?
I'm seeing a - 10% whilst btc is relatively stable/good.
I was told yesterday that I was was a bit bitter because I missed out on the cheap shares, are these the cheap shares again?
Anyone know what's done it, a news leak or just a bit of stock market noise.. Probably just the market makers wanted your shares cheap, buy the Dip.
