The trouble is you don’t get an honest debate because the lobbying from countries like Saudi drown out the facts.

The reason uk energy prices are so high is because gas prices have tripled and the electric price is based on the gas price.

So even though heat pumps etc are 3-4 times more efficient than gas boilers they end up costing the same to run, meanwhile we pay billions to wind turbine generators to turn them off.

There is a place for FF for thr next few decades but the Saudis know their time is up that’s why OPEC+ keep on cutting production because they know demand is dropping and it’s the only way they can keep the oil price from slumping.

Wars in the Middle East and Ukraine and the oil price barely registered a blip up.

If anyone thought FF were the future, with the continued increasing use of power needed, the oil price would be way higher than $70 a barrel and that’s with opec continually cutting production the last 3 years

I will say though the Saudis money is well spent/productive judging by the views on here………….

I have a friend who works for Mercedes and he told me last year Toyota were up a creek without a paddle and if the EU etc enforce these fines they are in trouble.

I haven’t looked into carbon capture but it seems nuts to me to take it out of circulation and stick it back where the gas came from.

Thats just crackers!!!!! Surely…..there has got to be better solutions ……

Why do you think EVs will fail?

Surely the large car companies know what they are doing and investing serious amounts of cash in the. Only bmw seem to be going down the hydrogen fuel cell route.

I get governments are driving this agenda with a stick, rather than a carrot, approach but they must have reason to pursue this agenda.

I don’t buy 1984’s theory that it is to control us all and stop us travelling and ration our energy use.

Germanys coal use increased because half of France’s nuclear reactors went offline due to safety concerns and because Germany stopped nuclear power stations ( Fukushima)and switched to LNG, which cost wise shot through the roof because of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, they had to increase their coal use.
