I have 2 ASHPs, they cost £7.5k and the tax payer didn’t subsidise it, only because the plumber messed the application up, however not withstanding that switching to ashp’s during the Ukraine spike in gas prices and being able to access off peak electric has been very beneficial.
Personally I wouldn’t want a pylon in our back garden, but pylons have been around for an extremely long time as most houses need an electricity supply, so not really sure what your point is……
There again I wouldn’t want to live next to a coal fired power station either ……or a wind turbine but I don’t need to
You sound a bit sceptical towards electrification
