I think you and 1984 need to agree to disagree.

Those who have invested in solar and bought EVs, that I know, are extremely happy. Others will take a lot more to convince.

1984 has made it clear he is invested in Solg for a takeover based on gold, nothing else, that’s a reasonable stance.

My experience of solar and EVs is generally very good, the savings I’ve made are nuts even allowing for the capital outlay, so much so I invested in a solar farm to take advantage of further savings.

Disappointed I missed the initial opportunities to invest in the wind farms as those investors have made spectacular returns.

There are many reasons why people do and don’t invest in electrification but pretty much everyone here is set on their preferences.

Governments will change the outlook so it is down to us, the consumer, to move with the times, some will move faster than others.

It’s VHS v Betamax…I think 1984 is in the Betamax camp personally 😀 but time will tell

You do know the current electricity price is based on the gas price in the UK! If your so called gas is so plentiful and cheap why is our electric price so expensive by comparison?

The green levy is added to the electric price.

It is only because the coefficient of performance in heat pumps is so high that the uk government get away with this.

If it was like for like, ashp’s would be a joke they would be so cheap to run.

You seem to chose to ignore the facts of why the last round of offshore wind contacts were so successful and the ones before that weren’t.

Because gas prices went so high after Russia invaded Ukraine the government refused to pay the inflated prices the wind companies wanted to protect themselves from further inflation and the government didn’t want to lock in high compensation knowing that renewable is way cheaper to produce.

2 years ago the grid was worried about black outs because of Ukraine etc so worried in fact that they paid users like myself and quarry up to £100 an hour to see if we would use less electric at peak times. It was so successful that they realised the following year that if they could pay us to top up the grid that’s even better.

The technology to help the grid can easily benefit the country as a whole.

I won’t even start to promote the benefits of v2h and v2g.

The possibilities are endless to reduce cost but seem to be stick in your ways wanting to rely on a source of energy that is controlled by cartels in the most unstable regions on this planet…..why would anyone want that 🤷🏻‍♂️

I am exporting 3.5 kWh at the moment as the batteries are charged up overnight on the cheap rate and sold back to the grid at over twice the price paid.

Storage will sort out the less windy/ sunny days in respect of renewables.

I see Fiat have only suspended production for 4 weeks not stopped.

When governments sort out their strategies, then sales for EVs will improve.

Don’t forget the eu has slapped huge tariffs on Chinese EVs as have the US, they don’t want to lose market share

Don’t worry Sue Gray earns more than the Prime Minister so all great if you’re a civil servant………….perhaps thats her reward for stitching Boris up…..

Personally electrification works for me and I embrace it, it isn’t for everyone and you should perhaps take that on board…..
