I am not unhappy with the BBs but question some things, would the cash better be spent reducing the debt when dividend yield is lower than the rate on the debt and what is going on i.e. why now, what does Rusty know that we don't specifically shares being dumped on the market, would the SP collapse without these BB, in which case BB after the collapse, in the end it would be better. Add in why borrow at 9.75% to BB shares with lower yield which is stuck for 3 years, perhaps this was meant to be for another acquisition which Rusty could not get over the line and now DEC left with a huge cash pile and would look stupid to pay back debt with the money just borrowed on the debt. Add in also paying back lower yielding debt to take on higher yielding debt. All in all it makes no sense unless there is something they are not telling us which is normal for DEC.
However when I was very keen on BBs it was when we had the old dividends and a serious gap between borrowing costs and dividends.
I am sure OB can spin this as another cunning Rusty plan.
