Qualcomm/Veoneer SEE --The new Three Musketeers

The AIWAYS U5 features connectivity and artificial intelligence not yet seen in a vehicle of its price point. To create a harmonious connection between man and machine, the U5 uses face recognition to understand who is driving the car and monitor driver awareness, issuing alerts if the driver appears to be getting drowsy and suggesting they stop for a break.

Everytime a Chinese brand pops up its connected with Qualcomm supplying something. Should be great as they all integrate DMS over the next couple years or so.

The announcement from Lincoln Motor Company of its hands-free driver assist technology (called Active Glide) was accompanied by various YouTube videos. A screen grab from the video at https://lnkd.in/dRyNsxcS reveals an identical #DMS module to the one seen in the new Mustang Mach E.

The presenter makes the point that this is quite an inelegant solution compared to the Ford F-150, which has the IR illuminators and IR sensor more subtly integrated into the vehicle. Suggests F-150 was possibly the initial model for the DMS contract win, with other models added later using this module above the steering wheel when the performance of the DMS and the Blue Cruise hands-free system became clear. Implies Ford Motor Company can expand Blue Cruise (and Lincoln Active Glide) to many more models in the short term. My assessment is that the DMS module for Ford/Lincoln is provided by Veoneer with DMS software provided by Seeing Machines.

Driver fatigue is one of the three major causes of death on New South Wales roads.

The NSW Centre for Road Safety states that fatigue-related crashes are almost three times more likely to be fatal than crashes not related to fatigue, with on average 67 people dying and 645 seriously injured each year due to fatigue.

We know that about 25 models to be announced from existing wins over next 18 months so we will have 1.5 models per month announced at some point i guess. Longer models not announced that 1.5 will move to 2 or 2+ per month.

Then add on new models in negotiation from the $900m and then Paul said was expecting another $900m RFQs to come.

So by end 2023 how many models will have been announced? How many new OEMs will get announced? If we say by end 2023 we have 100 models then Lewbo better start submitting his boat designs for rapid building i guess.

Min will be 2000 units month per model & going upto 60,000 units month for the biggest sellers. Then you have all the ones in between.

Conservative 1 mil cars per month i think and only grow after 2023. The numbers are truly mouthwatering.

But if you listen to the likes of Cant Fish Probably they will say 10,000 cars a month.

Its only going to get better and better from here :)

Looks like 10 Lincolns, so we could have another 9 models to add yet to the 1st Lincoln announced by Ford.

I would of thought the original $50m was for the F150 only?

So since then we have had the Mustang & now the Lincoln added. Not sure of the rules but anytime over next 6-12 months an extension RNS with Ford should show up.

Its prob in the current $900m RFQs.

Lots of extensions of contracts to be announced iam sure on top of new RFQs for OEMs & models.

Thats why the system has to work so well.

In Nio’s defense, it has never promoted its NOP system as an autonomous driving tech, nor were any of its main executives alleging that its cars would be autonomous at any point. However, that will not make things easier for the Chinese manufacturer if it is not able to prove that it monitors driver attention and that NOP can safely disengage if the driver is acting recklessly.

Hands-free highway driving
The 2022 Navigator will offer Active Glide, Lincoln’s name for the hands-free highway driving system Ford models will sell as Blue Cruise. Ford says the system will follow the road, maintaining speed and space between forward vehicles on more than 150,000 miles of divided highways in North America. The system includes gaze tracking to make sure the driver remains alert and ready to take over if necessary.

Other new driver assistance features include intersection assist, which will automatically apply the brakes to avoid crossing traffic. One-touch automated parallel and perpendicular parking will also be available.
