NNPC do not have a legal leg to stand on …. But the problem seems to be ambiguity in the 1969 PA versus the 2021 PIA … the Seplat/Exxon deal as a reverse takeover avoids the 2021 PIA requiring only ministerial consent that has been given … and that’s poor cross checking across the two bits of legislation.
Having said the above, a government regulator helps makes the law so can help break its own laws by creating new laws.
As far as I can see, NNPC are trying to say … “look we are now a public listed company so corruption will as a result stop” …
… reads a bit like Boris Johnson saying that now he is no longer PM he will go tea-total.
