@Carrington, do you have any thoughts on how UK shares would be affected either by more punitive taxes come October and/or the increasingly talked about IMF bailout?

If US markets were not at all time highs I have been thinking about putting all my money from UK shares into US ones. Or into the likes of BP, Shell, Glencore, Anglo American, Rio, etc to try and avoid a collapse on the Pound. Just thinking out loud.

Even if we 'only' get Reeves taxing us to the bone I can't see how sales in shops will hold up into the Winter. Brits might even be forced to give up their trips to the sun?

I would be grateful if you have any thoughts.

Been watching this. 7% up this week. If Powell does not crash the markets today or Monday in the US I think I will open a position here. Run up to Christmas, etc. Of course, we have that biatch in No 11 destroying the economy which is a huge problem.

All retail is down this morning but I think this is the biggest drop. What do you think is up? Could it just be that expensive ginger beer and tonic will become more discretionary spending with inflation up?

Yesterday's volume was crazy high. Almost 7 million. Since the turn-around we havbe see one 10 million and one 9 million volume days also.

We shot through the 50 amd 200 day moving averages. Didn't really retest the 200 at 291. Need the US markets to collapse - I think this is the major danger to the stock now. That and Kier Reeves.

After the initial rise on July 17th I waited for a while to see whether we would get the usual pullback and even resumption of the downtrend. Ever sine then I have been waiting for a pullback to take a position. I am wondering whether yesterday was it. The buyers keep on coming. I am surprised that all the shorts have not closed out - perhaps they are expecting a wider market sell-off coming. Kicking myself for not getting back in last month. I don't mind missing the initial 10% rise but this is up about 65% since then. Impressive. Oh well, maybe Trump with not TACO and give me a buy in.

Great that the stock is currently up 7%ish but, apols for the dummy question, why? Profits are down 28%.

US markets also look toppy. Some US inflation figures out at 1.30PM. I keep expecting a pull back both sides of the Atlantic but they just keep powering up.

Wizz has done very well this past week since split got a 1500 target by an analyst.

I was talking to a Big Issue seller last week. He had stopped going to Greggs opting instead for the more expensive local baker - seller of pasties, sausage rolls and coffee - 3 doors away. Why? He said that the bakes now looked as if they are filled, and taste, with slime. Said it started going downhill with the festive bake.

Not being reported in the UK tonight, Sunday, even though it is said to have happened on Sunday morning. The US media are reporting it and it is over all social media.

FYI, they have about half of the fridges back working today that went down yesterday.

One other point, I was talking with the staff a week ago. They sai that they used to have daily updates about how well the company was doing but have had none since the hack.

Two other food halls in the Swansea suburbs are jam packed most days.

I shop daily in M&S . The past 6 weeks I have noticed all my food items has risen in price. It is often bjt by bit regularly rather than in one chunk.

A good example is a small swiss dark chocolate bar. The week before last I paid £1.25 on a Thursday. On the Saturday it was £1.30 and a few days later, last week, it was £1.35. By the weekend it was £1.40.

Eggs have gone up. Ditto chocolate cookies. Cream cakes. The list goes on. I see it also in fish & meat.

I began to notice about 10 days ago people began to put items back on the shelves. They would look at the price and return the item. I have also had friends began to comment about the rise in food proces at M&S. One friend said yesterday that she would now be buying much less. She said that they were trying to make up for their hack losses by making the customers pay.

Have to say that this worries me re share price.

Walked into the food hall about 2ish to discover that most of the food in the fridges was being binned. Staff had emptied several fridges and closed others ready to be emptied. The staff said that the fridge temperatues had gone below a certain level that meant the food could not be sold. I had been in there a few hours earlier and everything was fine then.

The staff pointed up to the ceiling and said the problem was with the computer that controlled the fridges. This set off alarm bells in my head as, back during the hack, the staff had explained to me, when numerous fridges were empty then, that they were all controlled by some central system elsewhere in the shop and that this had been affected by the hack. There were several good days in the food hall around that time when I was picking up items for as little as 25p to 75p.

Anyway, my first thought when I heard that whatever controls all the fridges was down again was whether they had been hacked again. Or just had not completely sorted the problem. Something seemed to be brewing yesterday morning as, about 9.30ish, they cleared the sarnie fridge and sold all the sarnies and wraps off for 75p each.

We just had 3 days of near enough 30 degree temps so maybe that was a factor. I really don't know what they mean by a computer controlling all the fridge temps. Is it some Windows type device? Or do they mean some kind of device?
