Just an update on this. The shop was closed for its security upgrade. I have not been in so no idea about CCTV. However, they have doors on the shelves now and the doors auto open and close as opposed to be wide open before.

Why the big drop recently? I know that the German economy is imploding and that they are heading back to a medieval non industrial society but surely this will rise for Christmas?

I read the posts saying that the CEO should be buying shares to restore confidence. What if he looks at the books and decides BME is not a good investment. It is not beyond the bounds of possibility that the invesitgation into the finances gives the CEO the opportunity to say "Hey, when I took the post I thought the company finances were X but now I realise they are Y I have decided to step down. Bye, bye.".

Or what if he knows worse news is coming, knows the news will drop the pric further and THEN he will buy?

I keep looking at the share an see it at a bargain price. There must be a reason why it is not being gobbled up here. Perhaps one lower low to target the 2025 low? A double bottom?

I think deliberate destruction of the economy and culture of the UK and Europe is exactly what the WEF globalists want. Starmer and Reeves are no more socialists than George Soros or Larry Fink. I fear that what she does in the budget effectively cripples the UK economy. Then a collapse of the Pound and, voila, digital ID enforced.

I was hoping that the US markets crash before the budget. Then I would move all my cash into US stocks. But they keep pushing the AI ponzi higher and higher.

I supposed another negative at the moment is the upcoming budget from Reeves. Rumour is that travel and hospitality will be hit with more taxes. They will wrap it in some green nonsense no doubt. I am not sure how important the UK is to Wizz's business though I have to say. A potential positive coming could be the ending of the NATO v Russia proxy war in the Ukraine, although I have no idea about Wizz's business in Russia pre the war starting.

I suspect Greggs along with most other UK businesses - especially in hospitality and travel - are waiting to see what Labours does to them / us in the budget before making any more major announcements. I was listening to financial commentary on US markets yesterday. A chap threw in the comment that the UK is not investable now and that added the anecdote that everyone he knew in London is hurrying to get out of the UK. Just a sound bite but it got my attention.

A friend tells me that one of the Greggs in the centre of Swansea is closed today, apparently due to staffing issues. Whatever they are. I thought that strange. There are another 2 Greggs just 5 minutes away. Within 10 minutes there are, off the top of my head, another 3 shops. The closed shop usually has a queue of people buying. My first thought was whether they have begun to close down shops? IIRC the shop has 2 or 3 staff members working in it.

The dividend might get reduced on this. I can't see it being cut because that would be a disaster.

I am surprised that they did not come out with some encouraging words this morning about sales to try and negate this drop.

I have avoided Spoons for decades because the one closest to me is very grotty. It is close to a drug rehab centre and attracts a lot of people who, poor souls, look as if they spend most of their lives and money on drugs. People kept telling me about how wonderful Spoons is so, back in June, I started going to a different Spoons in my home town of Swansea. It is very well run. I have become an almost daily regular for a coffee but usually also for a breakfast or lunch. I have noticed in this time that the numbers of customers has been growing week by week. The coffee / breakfasts has attracted a lot of retired people, many of whom, at a guesstimate, used to go the M&S cafe a few roads away. It also attracts a lot of workmen for breakfast and then it goes nuts at midday when the lunch crowd arrive. Most seem to be buying the meal and alcoholic drink deal or just alcohol. If this is part of a general trend nationally I can only see a good few months ahead, assuming that the run-up to Christmas will be good and that Reeves does not crush consumers.

Btw @Carrington, I am surprised that Greggs has not interested you. With the recent results its looks to me as if it has potentially bottomed. I would have thought Greggs and JDW were both hospitality shares that could gain in the Winter months. Do you have any thoughts on Greggs?

Which is the real problem - shoplifting or the winter being too snowy and the summer being too hot? They can fix the shoplifting by altering shop layout but what about the excuse of the seasons being not too hot and not too cold? Maybe they should sell more porridge?

Perplexed about the share price. What do the big boys know that we don't know or are they simply more interested in AI stocks at the moment?

Options expiration today in the US so the big boys move the markets to maximise their profits at expiration. Usually the week following expiration in the US is the tell.

There's a US competitor to Ocado. Forget the name. I suppose Amazon might want their own company than share with whatever that US is.

I am a bloke. I think the women's clothing looks very warm and cosy. I noticed lots of golden brownish cord trousers which stood out to me.

I have to say their men's Summer clothing was dire. Terrible weak pastel colours across the range - shirts, t-shirts and socks. The socks were horrible colours. They couldn't give them away at sale prices last month in my local shop. Now that Autumn is on the way I am sure that M&S will do their usual drab colours for men - black, brown and, of course, their favourite for men - boring grey. I have wished for 30 years that they would be more adventurous with the colours on their men's clothing. Go down the likes of Fatface route with colours. It is always old men I see buying M&S clothing.

Why are they pulling them? Presumably it is uneconomical for them? Which means whatever they are charging people are unwilling or unable to pay?

The 12 day simple moving average appears to be what the share price is following. Above it the price climbs. Below it we get a dump - see blow link. It closed below it on the 27th. The MACD has also just crossed over downwards. Stochastics also look as if they want to head lower. There is also unfilled gap at 452 back from April and Trump's tariff announcement. The charts suggest a few more days of selling at least. The bright side is that Monday is September and usually we seeing buying in the FTSE generally at the start of the month. It is also Labor Day in the US on Monday so US markets will be closed. Everyone is petrified of a US sell-off at the moment so I would be inclined to watch and wait until Tuesday at the earliest.

French government could collapse this week. Both the UK and France are in dire economic places. Ditto Germany but France is the one everyone is worried about collapsing first. If it goes it is bound to take down the rest of the European stock markets. Then we have the US markets which appear to have topped out.

I am no charting expert. Just a poor amateur. DYOR.
