I think the danger for investors here [ including myself] is that when Rachel Reeves works out just how big the fiscal deficit really is and needs £30bn for the blood scandal compensation etc, she picks up the Reform idea of reducing interest payments to banks from the bank of England. Easy to justify [ they do the same in europe] and easy to implement.

Bias, in a word - yes. However just read that Le Pen plans to cut energy flows out of France to help with their cost of living and given we import lots of electricity through interconnectors , common sense might prevail and north sea oil and gas might be recognised as essential. Lets hope so.

Interesting observation from the departing Steve Baker around our growing debt and un sustainable welfare state. He says if anyone looks at our debt trajectory in about 20 years the welfare system will collapse as more and more people become dependent on it. Nobody was talking about that in the election run up and clearly he now feels able to talk freely. Somethings will need to change and unless the net zero 2030 plan causes pensioners and the disabled to freeze to death we will be in real trouble it seems to me.

So what nobody has yet costed or allowed for is the blood scandal - £30bn , the post Office scandal £5bn , our contribution to rebuilding gaza £10 bn, Ditto Ukraine £10bn. Then there is the capital required for infrastructure for net zero £675 bn. Where is the money coming from? We will all be forking out £35k for an electric car and £15k for ashp's .

Frankly we will be bankrupted by labours net zero policy because we are pretty much there already.

Interesting how people talk about government money , when in reality it is OUR money - tax payer money that our elected representatives hand out to the places they believe it is best spent. It is around 50% of the economy which is a total outrage considering we are not in the middle of a war. Worst of all a good proportion is siphoned off by middle men and some is spent making our lives worse e.g ULEZ cameras. It has to be reined back and a fundamental change is needed in UK.

The big issue for the company is its pension fund - 4X the mcap, and therefore will labour find a way of grabbing some of that ? I doubt it but their net zero plans will cost the same as another nhs and the money has to come from somewhere. Frankly we are headed for bankruptcy and that is bad news for all companies , investors and employees.

Cheap, it worked out for me - this time - taken 3% profit and put the money in JD sports where shares are very cheap atm imv. Good Luck.

The well is part of the shallows being sold and I suppose the purchaser is more likely to complete now whereas had the well been a duster could have pulled out. Key question is, should we renegotiate. I believe they might have done but who knows what is really going on over there as some past deals have had a hint of dodgy if you ask me.

Violin, As I see things , Redmile have a 2 way bet - if the trial is successful they can cash in by conversion and selling at a higher sp . If the trial fails they continue to get interest on the notes for a couple of years and trust that another product will deliver.
