The market seems to have a real downer on UK companies atm - it seems they are demanding a yield [ through divis and growth ] of at least 7% or they sell down to that point.

STP, I don't think the USA will fall flat on its face with Trump in charge for a couple of reasons, firstly he is the mouth piece of a group of people who want to sort out their rising debt problem and those people are not stupid. Secondly their economy is effectively self sufficient in energy food and resources plus their big Tech companies dominate the world sucking cash out of every country that uses them. So they are likely to at least hold their own whilst reducing their structural problems . We are more likey to fail than them imv.

I am still interested - in just how long this company can survive - I thought it would go under about 3 years ago but fair play to SS he has kept it going and defying the reality of economic gravity!

When I worked at Amec , Neil Bruce was a big shot who effectively ran the company - although he was not ceo. His involvement here is great news imv and a takeover is more likely as a consequence.

Just heard the chairman of Seri something Oil on R4 at 620 am talking about the nonsense that is going on just now. Two significant things for me;

1.He said the UK needs 15 bn barrells of oil between now and 2050 and only 4bn would come from the north sea meaning it was the wrong to import more in terms of costs, jobs, taxes and security .

2. The BBC were actually promoting a view that is counter to current government policy softening up their audience for change [ I Hope].

88 - inflation is already 3.7% as measured by an index that includes housing costs - rpi. Cpi only applies if you live on the streets with no accomodation to pay for. Inflation as measured by RPI or CPI H will hit 5% this year imv.

I sold the shares I packed up yesterday for £160 profit this morning - still holding my 'investment ' shares as I believe this company will go from strength to strength over next few years. Put the 'trading' proceeds into smwh where I expect an anoouncement on store sales will lift sp .

@Hopin. usually yes - but it is a drawn out process where bids are kept confidential until a point is reached where a price is agreed [ ie recommended bid] or an agreement cannot be reached and the company issues a statement to that effect - and their reasoning for rejection. There are rules - google them

Trump is pushing down the price of oil by twisting opecs arm to up production. the whole sector should be up imv - not down! I might add if fall continues.

Sp recovery underway now. I am still over £200 down on my purchases today but this is a quality company deserving a premium imv.
