Today is an odd day to publish an "inaugural sustainability report" for year ended 28 Feb 2022. One would have thought it should have been quicker.

Perhaps they only started in September ... at Orion's request.

According to Orion website,

"IFC PS (International Finance Corporation’s Performance Standards) are generally required for Orion Mine Finance Fund III Orion Mineral Royalty Fund I investments in non-Designated Countries."

According to today's report

"...the foundation of our approach to sustainability governance is a set of policies related to sustainability that have been developed to meet or exceed the requirements of ... the International Finance Corporation’s (IFC) Performance Standards."

It looks very much as though this sustainability report is one of the conditions precedent of the funding.

Hello, yes I should have worded it differently ... value traded on ATM today was gbp 57k, so the single trade of 20k was more than a third of the day's turnover

An odd lunchtime trade today,

easily the biggest of today's trades so far, and apparently gratuitously and pointlessly well below the going market rate. Is this a genuine case of someone wanting to sell a sizeable chunk quickly, or is it an attempt (which seems to have failed) to bump the market down?

Part of the reason I am wondering, is that something oddly similar might have happened at another lithium junior, CTL, about half an hour later

Apols to anyone who thinks this would be carrying insistence on accurate detail too far ... but I think AV doesn't clearly say they are going to re-work the existing waste heaps.

He says:

"What we're looking to do is take all the waste that you see being thrown away there [camera shows magnificent view of waste heaps] which has all of the lithium and we want to capture that and extract a lithium concentrate so we're going to add a piloting facility on for the lithium and then we want to run some bulk-scale test-work on that and prove up what we've already found in the labs..."

He could be talking about re-working the existing waste heaps, but he could equally be talking about enhancing the existing production line and not touching the waste already thrown away.

For the complete removal of doubt, let me say that I found the presentation very professionally done and very interesting.

One thing I'd be grateful if anyone can provide more info about,

given that it is an important aspect of the overall project that the 3 sites (ANS ANN and Vermelio) are within trucking distance of each other, it would be good to have a general idea of what gets processed where. For example, does newly mined rock get trucked from one site to another, and how many trucks per day would that mean?

That is easy to solve. It is *very suspicious* that they felt the need to come out with an update statement. They should have felt confident enough to carry on without saying anything.

Hi. I wouldn't say the price went down today, just that it didn't go up. But doesn't this simply mean that the market already had today's news priced in? After all, the RNS does say "results which are once again in line with our high expectations".

Maybe they should try saying "these results are far better than we expected" and then let's see what happens to the sp.

Well you can say that but it just goes to show how Jeremy is correct. We had that ridiculous and damaging nickel price spike in March and as a result people are intensifying research into alternative battery chemistries which are not as good as nickel.

It would be much better for everyone if the nickel price is stable and most car batteries continue to be made of nickel.

When I named this thread "Contrarian speculates" I had no idea it would lead to such a splendid development.

It may be news to some here that Contrarian is sometimes ... very occasionally ... capable of light-hearted speculation.

Part of the explanation could be if interest payments on the debt are also expected to go up substantially and are not included in the capital costs already discussed. Not that I know much of anything about this whole area, just putting forward the idea for someone to comment on.

Quoted spread has been 5.00 - 5.20 all morning but actual trade just now at 5.085 is a buy.
