So the Ghanaian parliament agreed to a PFI type arrangement with MPS who in turn invested $1.5B building a 21st century port. The mechanisation has presumably displaced the many manual labourers, as happens as any country develops. It also seems MPS have been handed some additional business to reduce corruption.
The unions are left mourning the good old days, and request a charitable donation of 20% of all business to continue their inefficient and possibly corrupt practices. Furthermore they issue veiled threats of violence in their press release if they don’t receive what they want.
Well, let’s hope El Presidente sees through all of this and puts an end to it...
